Be aware of the festival schedule, especially in July. It could be super crowded, and some parts of the shrine get blocked off for the celebrations.
Check out the little shops nearby for some local snacks. I found a great street vendor selling yummy matcha ice cream—really cheap and super tasty.
I recommend going in the early morning, like around 7 AM. It's so peaceful and less crowded, plus the soft light for photos is amazing!

You can save some cash by packing a lunch instead of eating at nearby restaurants. There are nice spots in the gardens to chill with your own food and enjoy the view!
Make sure to take your time with the gardens; I rushed through them and missed some really beautiful details. There’s a peaceful vibe that deserves a slow stroll!
I think the temple has a small entry fee, but check for discounts if you're a student—totally helped me save some bucks! Not every visitor know that.
