I really recommend using public transport instead of renting a car. The buses to key spots are decently priced and you won’t have to find parking everywhere.

Don’t forget to check the weather before your trip! It can change fast; I got caught in a rainstorm on my bike ride. Pack an extra layer just in case!
Dunedin Botanic Gardens
Tunnel Beach

I suggest wearing good shoes! The path to Tunnel Beach is steep and can be slippery. I learned the hard way, and my sandals just didn't cut it. It made the trek a bit more stressful than it needed to be.
Blue Penguins Pukekura
Sandfly Bay
St. Clair Beach
Purakaunui Falls

My advice is to wear good walking shoes. The trail can get muddy and slippery, especially after rain. I regretted my flip-flops when I almost took a tumble!

I suggest bringing some snacks and water if you plan to stay a while. There’s not much nearby, and trust me, enjoying a break by the falls with some food is a real plus!

I recommend visiting in the morning around 9 AM to avoid the crowds. The sunlight also hits the falls beautifully at that time, making for some awesome photos!
