If you plan to visit during the summer, don’t forget your sunscreen. There are not many shaded spots, and you could end up with a sunburn.

Check out the small exhibitions too! I almost skipped them, but they had some fascinating artifacts that really added to the experience.

Be prepared for some uneven paths; the cobblestones can be tricky. I wore comfy shoes, and it made a big difference in my enjoyment of the place.
Palace Square
The Hermitage

I recommend getting a ticket online in advance for a specific time slot. The lines can be crazy, especially on weekends! Plus, you save some money that way because they sometimes have discounts.

Pack a light lunch to enjoy in the courtyard. There’s a lovely spot to eat, and you’ll save time and some rubles just avoiding the café lines.

Consider grabbing an audio guide on your way in. I thought I could do without it, but it really enhanced my experience and gave me interesting insights about the pieces.
If you can, try to visit on a weekday morning, like a Tuesday at around 10 AM. The crowds are less intense and you'll get a better chance to enjoy the artworks without feeling rushed.

I suggest grabbing a coffee from a nearby cafe before you head to the monument. It's nice to sit there for a bit and soak in the vibes before checking out the actual statue.

If you wanna save some cash, avoid the souvenir stalls nearby. You can find similar items way cheaper in other parts of the city.
