I recommend starting your visit at around 10 AM when they open. The crowds are way lighter and you can enjoy the art without being jostled around.
If you're on a budget, try to visit on weekends or free entry days! You can get in for free on certain nights, just check the schedule online before you go.
Look out for the short audio guides! They’re inexpensive and provide awesome insights into the most famous pieces—definitely helped enhance my experience.
Museum Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofia
Grab your tickets online before you go! I saved a ton of time by not waiting in line, and it was super easy to do.
National Thyssen Museum
Don’t miss the café inside! They had delicious pastries that were perfect for a little break after taking in all that art, and it wasn't overpriced at all.
Remember to wear comfy shoes. You’ll walk a lot, and there are some tricky stairs I wasn’t ready for. My feet were screaming by the end of the visit.
i think you should take a look at the temporary exhibitions too. they had some mind-blowing installations when i was there, and they seemed a bit overlooked by other visitors.
If you're on a budget, check for 'free entrance' days. I stumbled upon a Wednesday when the entry fee was waived, and I saved some cash!
Crystal Palace
National Archaeological Museum
Kaisha Forum
Definitely check if they have any special events or workshops happening during your visit. I stumbled upon a great interactive session that really added to my experience!
I think it’s smart to wear comfortable shoes, especially if you plan to explore the surrounding area afterward. You’ll want to keep walking after such a cool visit!
Don’t forget to download their app before you go. It has great info and a virtual tour option that helped me understand the displays better
House Museum of Joaquin Sorolla
Railway Museum
Check for any special exhibitions beforehand. I missed one that was only running for a week, and it sounded really interesting! Don't let that happen to you
Bring a water bottle to fill up inside... There are places to refill, and it'll save you some money instead of buying overpriced drinks
Next time, I would park at a nearby metro station instead of driving. Parking was a bit pricey and crowded; the metro is way more convenient and eco-friendly!
National Museum of Natural Sciences
I suggest downloading the museum's app before your visit. The audio guides can be super helpful and it's a great way to learn without spending extra on rentals.
I think it’s worth spending some time in the gift shop afterward; they have some unique souvenirs that aren’t overpriced, plus it supports the museum.
National Museum of Romanticism
Look out for the free admission days, usually on specific holidays. It's a great way to save a few euros and still see all the amazing art!
I found that the museum can get pretty crowded, so I suggest visiting right when it opens at 9:30 AM. You'll have the place mostly to yourself and can enjoy the art better.
I recommend planning at least an hour for your visit, but I ended up spending more time because I got really into the exhibits! Don't rush it, take your time.
My advice is to stop by the small café in the museum. I grabbed some coffee there, and it was super refreshing after wandering around!
