I recommend renting a surfboard from one of the local vendors instead of big surf shops. It’s way cheaper and you can often negotiate the price. I got mine for just $5 a day!

Watch for the monkeys! They can be cheeky and snatch your snacks right off your towel. I lost a whole banana while I wasn't watching! Keep your food close!

Try to eat at local places rather than touristy restaurants on the main road. The hidden gems offer much tastier meals at half the price. I loved a little shack called 'Mama's Kitchen'

I recommend hitting the beach around 7 AM for the best waves and fewer crowds... Trust me the early sunrise is worth it... You'll have a more peaceful vibe to start your day
