Matanuska Glacier

My advice is to wear sunglasses on the glacier. I didn't bring mine and regretted it—the glare from the ice was intense.

I recommend getting there by 9 AM to beat the crowds. It was beautiful and quiet in the morning, plus the lighting for photos is way better!

I think it's worth packing a lunch. The snack bar there is decent but overpriced, and sitting on the glacier with a sandwich is cool for sure!

If you're planning to rent gear for ice climbing do it ahead of time online. I found it cheaper and more convenient than renting onsite where they seemed a bit short on sizes!
Nugget Falls Trail

My advice is to wear comfy shoes with good grip. The terrain can be a bit slippery, especially near the falls, and you'll want to save yourself a few slips and falls.
Yakutat

If you're into surfing, hit the waves early in the morning around 7 AM. The water is less crowded, and you'll catch some great swells before the wind picks up later in the day.
Check out the local surf school. They offer great deals for first-timers, and it's a fun way to meet other surfers and get insider tips about the best spots.

I suggest renting gear instead of buying. Most shops have amazing rental prices, and the locals are super helpful with what you need for a day of fun on the beach.
Mount McKinley

I recommend checking the weather a few days before your trip... It can change fast and you don't want to get stuck in the rain on your hike! Plus the views are best with clear skies

My advice is to pack a lunch instead of buying food at the visitor center. The prices were pretty high, and I found a nice spot to eat with a killer view!
Thompson Pass

My advice is to bring your own gear if you can. Renting there can be super pricey, and the options are limited. Next time, I'll pack better to save cash and have more fun!
Midnight Sun Paragliding

I recommend booking your flight early in the morning for the calmest winds; it made our experience so much smoother and way more enjoyable. Plus, you get to see the sunrise—totally worth it!
Denali Highway

My advice is to pack a lunch and some snacks! There aren’t many places to grab a bite along the highway, so save some cash and enjoy a picnic with stunning views. I wish I had brought more snacks last time
Alaska Raceway Park

I recommend bringing your own snacks and drinks to save some cash. The on-site food was kinda pricey, and I wish I had packed a cooler instead of spending too much on basic stuff.

If you’re planning to watch the races I suggest arriving around 5 PM. The parking lot fills up faster than you’d expect and you want to score a good spot to see everything without straining your neck.
