Pisgah National Forest

Bring cash for parking. Some spots don’t take card and you don’t wanna waste time scrambling to find an ATM.

For a unique experience, check out the hot springs in town after your hike. They’re relaxing and a great way to soothe your muscles after a long day outdoors!

I think you should grab a local map at the visitor center. Some trails are not well marked and it can save you from getting lost or accidentally doubling back

My advice is to pack a picnic instead of eating out. There are so many scenic spots to chill and enjoy your food, plus it can save you some cash!
Ozark National Forest
I suggest bringing a refillable water bottle. There are plenty of natural water sources, but it helps save some cash and keeps you hydrated on those long hikes!

My experience with the trails was awesome but they can be confusing. I recommend grabbing a physical map at the visitor center. Completed the loop trail in half the time I would’ve without it!

I think it's a good idea to bring some snacks for the road. The small nearby towns can be pricey for food so packing some granola bars could save you some cash.
Hot Springs National Park

If you’re planning to soak, make sure you check out the Buckstaff Bathhouse. It's a bit more old-school, which I loved—bringing that vintage vibe!

I suggest checking out the visitor center first. They have maps and save you time figuring out what attractions are a must-see and what can be skipped.

I recommend starting your day early, like around 8 AM. You’ll beat the crowds, and the morning light is perfect for photos at the springs.
My advice is to bring cash for some of the local shops. A few places had issues with their card machines, and I ended up missing out on great local snacks.
Cosmic Cavern

Get there around 9:30 AM to beat the crowds. The cave gets packed especially on weekends and starting early gives you a more personal experience with the guide.

Plan for about 2-3 hours minimum. You don’t want to rush through this beautiful cave, and there's so much to see that you’ll want to take your time.

I recommend wearing good shoes—non-slip ones are a must! Some parts can be slippery and uneven, so you want to make sure you’re stable
Garvan Woodland Gardens
I suggest you visit on a weekday if you can. It was way less crowded and I got to enjoy the gardens at my own pace. The weekends were packed!

I think you should definitely check the event calendar before you go. I missed a cool concert because I didn't check, and it seems like they often have live music and activities

I recommend taking the time to explore the small trails off the main path. I stumbled upon some hidden spots that were absolutely beautiful and way less trafficked.
Great Passion Play Theme Park

I recommend wearing comfortable shoes; the park is a lot bigger than it looks! You’ll do a lot of walking, and it’s easy to lose track of time.

My advice is to check out the meal plans ahead of time. I ended up spending more than I intended on food, so budgeting for that really helps.

I suggest arriving around 9:30 AM to beat the crowds and snag the best seats for the play. It gives you a chance to explore the park a bit before it gets busy.
The Arkansas Alligator Farm and Petting Zoo

Make sure to bring extra cash for snacks or souvenirs. The gift shop has some cool stuff and local treats that are worth checking out.

I suggest going early, like around 9 AM, when it opens. You get to see the animals when they're most active and avoid the midday crowds.
Paint Rock

I suggest visiting early in the morning, around 8 AM. The trails are way less crowded, and you get to enjoy the peacefulness of nature before it heats up. Trust me, it's a game changer!
My advice is to bring your own snacks and drinks. There aren't many options nearby, and the prices can be a bit steep if you need to buy something on-site. Save that cash for souvenirs instead!
