San Diego Zoo

My advice is to wear comfy shoes. Between the hilly paths and all the walking, my feet were killing me by the end - I should've known better!

i highly recommend downloading the zoo app! it has maps, schedules, and info on animal exhibits to make navigating super easy.

Try to catch the pandas during the morning feeding time. I saw them later in the day and they were just napping – total bummer!

Consider bringing your own snacks and water. The food options are decent but pricey, and I regretted not packing a picnic to enjoy in the park.
Los Angeles Zoo

I suggest getting to the zoo right when it opens at 10am to avoid the crowds, it really makes the experience more enjoyable! Plus, the animals seem more active in the morning.

My advice is to check out the animal feedings and shows on the schedule. They’re really fun to watch and you get a closer look at some animals while learning something new!

Bring your own snacks and drinks. Food inside is expensive, and there’s lots of places to picnic if you want a break from the exhibits.

Grab your tickets online instead of at the gate! It saves you some time and they sometimes have discounts available online too.
San Francisco Zoo

Make sure to download the zoo map before you go. I found myself wandering around trying to find specific exhibits and it wasted some time!

I suggest bringing your own food and drinks. The zoo's cafes can be pricey, and there are nice picnic spots to enjoy your lunch without spending much.
Oakland Zoo

I think you should check out the gift shop but maybe wait until the end of your visit. They have some cool stuff, but I regret spending too much money too early.

If you're bringing kids, don't miss the Zoo Train ride. Just be ready for a little wait but it's super fun, I was surprised how much my kids loved it!

My advice is to pack snacks or a light lunch. The food prices at the zoo can add up quickly, and you might get hungry before hitting all the exhibits!
