Wear comfy shoes! You’ll probably end up walking a lot more than you think, especially if you decide to explore the nearby National Mall afterward

Check out the reflection pool in front of the memorial. It's super photogenic, especially around sunset, so don’t miss it for great Instagram shots.

Consider visiting on a weekday rather than the weekend to dodge some of the bigger tourist crowds; it makes for a much smoother experience.

Look for the hidden gems, like the inscriptions on the walls. I was blown away by how much meaning is packed into those details!

Barbara December 16, 2024

Wear comfortable shoes! The memorial is part of the National Mall, and you'll be doing a lot of walking to see everything in the area.

I suggest visiting early in the morning, around 8 AM. It's quieter then, and you can enjoy the monument without too many people around.

It was a little chilly when I went, so I recommend checking the weather and dressing in layers. You don't wanna be freezing up there, especially waiting in line for tickets.

user avatar
Susan December 24, 2024

Consider bringing a water bottle! There's a water fountain nearby, and refilling it saves you cash on drinks, plus it keeps you hydrated for all that walking.

user avatar
Mark December 5, 2024

If you're short on time, get your tickets online to avoid the long queues. I thought I'd be fine just showing up, but the wait was a bummer!

I suggest checking out the grounds around the monument too. The views are increible and you'll find some great spots to sit and relax for a bit after you climb up.

Don't forget to grab some snacks at nearby cafes before heading in. Food options are super limited around The White House, and you might get hungry waiting for your tour.

Mark November 18, 2024

I suggest checking the weather ahead of time. I went on a rainy day, and it totally dampened the experience. Bring an umbrella or a light jacket!

Bring a light snack! I found myself starving after walking around for a few hours; there's not a ton of dining options nearby. A granola bar in your bag can be a lifesaver.

If you have time, attend a Mass service. It really added to my visit and the atmosphere was so serene. I suggest checking the schedule ahead of time.

Wear comfy shoes! You'll be walking a lot more than you think, and I regretted my choice of footwear halfway through the visit. Trust me on this!

My advice is to wear comfy shoes! The Pentagon is huge and you’ll be doing a lot of walking. I wish I had worn sneakers instead of my cute sandals

Richard October 18, 2024

If you want to save some bucks, grab lunch at the nearby Pentagon City Mall instead. The food courts have great options at affordable prices, way better than what’s offered on-site.
