Consider spending a little extra for the IMAX tickets if you're into cool visuals. It was a great way to break up the museum experience and really worth the money!

I suggest arriving right when the museum opens at 10 AM to beat the crowds. It gets super busy later in the day, and you'll have a better chance to enjoy the exhibits without feeling rushed.

Check out the eating options outside the museum instead of within it. The food court nearby has a variety of choices that are often cheaper and much tastier

Wear comfy shoes! You’ll probably end up walking a lot more than you think, especially if you decide to explore the nearby National Mall afterward

Check out the reflection pool in front of the memorial. It's super photogenic, especially around sunset, so don’t miss it for great Instagram shots.

Consider visiting on a weekday rather than the weekend to dodge some of the bigger tourist crowds; it makes for a much smoother experience.

Try to explore the museum's café for lunch. It’s a bit pricey, but the food is great and a nice break from all the walking around.

Check out the museum’s website for free timed passes, it can save you a lot of time waiting in line. I wish I had done that!

If you plan to spend a lot of time there, consider packing a small snack to save on costs and avoid the cafeteria rush during lunch hours.

Don't skip the small exhibits on the upper floors. I honestly almost did, thinking they wouldn’t be worth my time, but they were some of the most impactful parts of my visit.

If you can, try going on a weekday morning like 10 AM. It was way less crowded then, and I could take my time reading everything without feeling rushed

Ronald November 20, 2024

I suggest downloading the museum app before you go. It really helps with navigation and gives you extra info that you might miss otherwise. Trust me, it made my visit so much smoother.

If you're on a budget, grab lunch at a nearby deli instead of the café inside... You'll save a ton and still get some great food without missing any art time

Look for the hidden gems, like the inscriptions on the walls. I was blown away by how much meaning is packed into those details!

Wear comfortable shoes! The memorial is part of the National Mall, and you'll be doing a lot of walking to see everything in the area.

I suggest visiting early in the morning, around 8 AM. It's quieter then, and you can enjoy the monument without too many people around.

Try to plan around lunchtime. The museum’s café has some pretty good options, but it gets super busy. If you can, grab a snack before noon to beat the rush.

user avatar
Brian November 27, 2024

My advice is to give yourself at least three hours. There’s so much to see – I ended up rushing through the last galleries because I didn't plan enough time.

Keep an eye out for free events. I stumbled upon an artist talk that was fantastic and totally free. Just check the schedule when you arrive!

It was a little chilly when I went, so I recommend checking the weather and dressing in layers. You don't wanna be freezing up there, especially waiting in line for tickets.

user avatar
Susan December 24, 2024

Consider bringing a water bottle! There's a water fountain nearby, and refilling it saves you cash on drinks, plus it keeps you hydrated for all that walking.

user avatar
Mark December 5, 2024

If you're short on time, get your tickets online to avoid the long queues. I thought I'd be fine just showing up, but the wait was a bummer!

user avatar
Benjamin November 22, 2024

I suggest checking out the grounds around the monument too. The views are increible and you'll find some great spots to sit and relax for a bit after you climb up.

I suggest visiting right when they open at 10 AM to beat the crowd. It was nice and quiet when I got there, and I had the whole place to myself for a bit!
