Millennium Park

I really recommend wandering around the Lurie Garden while you’re there. It’s a peaceful escape from the busy areas, and the flowers are gorgeous. Just be ready for some stairs!
Don't skip the Crown Fountain – it’s such a unique art installation! I thought it was just a fountain, but it's a whole interactive experience. Plus, kids love it!

Bring some snacks and drinks. The park is beautiful but food prices nearby can be a bit steep. I packed a little picnic and it made for a perfect afternoon.

I suggest visiting on a weekday if you can swing it. The crowds on weekends can get pretty insane, especially near the Bean. I went on a Tuesday and it was so much less hectic.
Grant Park

my advice is to bring your own snacks or a picnic! the food at the park is pricey and not that special, so pack a lunch and relax on the lawn.

I think the best time to visit is around 10 AM during weekdays. It’s way less crowded, and you can enjoy the beauty of the gardens without dodging throngs of people

I recommend wearing comfy shoes, especially if you want to explore the entire park on foot. There’s a lot to see, and you don't want sore feet ruining your day.

I suggest visiting the Art Institute nearby after Grant Park. It’s just a short walk away, and if you’re a fan of art, the admission price is well worth it—just check for any deals online.
Lincoln Park Zoo

Bring your own snacks and drinks. The food options can be pricey, and I didn’t think the quality was worth the cost.

Pack some sunscreen! Even if it’s cloudy, I got a bit burned wandering around the outdoor areas. Way worse than I expected!

I recommend getting there right when the zoo opens at 10 AM. It’s way less crowded, and you can enjoy seeing the animals without the hassle of big crowds.

If you’re on a budget, consider visiting on a weekday. I noticed it was less crowded and easier to explore without spending too much time in lines.
Shedd Aquarium

I'd recomend visiting on a weekday if you can. We went on a Tuesday, and it was way less crowded. Totally worth it for a relaxing stroll!

Make sure to check out the daily schedule for animal shows—some are not daily! We missed one because we didn't realize it was only at certain times.

Don’t skip the sea otter exhibit! They’re so entertaining and honestly made my day. I suggest hanging out there for a while to take in the cuteness!
I really sugget getting your tickets online before you go. The lines can get super long, especially on weekends. It saved us a ton of time!
North Avenue Beach

Don’t skip the sunset! The beach gets really magical in the evening and I think you’ll get some perfect photos to remember your day.

Bring a beach umbrella if you’re planning to stay for a while... The sun can get intense, and I totally fried my shoulders on my first trip!

Grab a sandwich or snack from one of the food trucks before settling down on the sand. They have some great options, but they're a bit pricey at the beach cafes.

If you’re looking for a quieter spot, try heading a little north towards the volleyball courts. It’s less crowded and you still get the lovely view.
Brookfield Zoo

Plan your visit around the animal feeding times. They can be really entertaining, and you may see animals being more active. Check the schedule online ahead of time!

Don't miss the Big Cat Encounter! It's super cool and the keeper talks are informative, but it fills up quick. Get there around 10:30 AM for a good viewing spot.

If you can, go on a weekday rather than the weekend. It's way less crowded, and you'll have more time to see the animals without the hustle and bustle. I made that mistake during a Saturday visit.
Chicago Riverwalk

Bring a light jacket or sweater, even during warm months. The breeze off the river can be surprisingly chilly, especially in the evening. I learned that the hard way.

Grab a coffee from one of the local cafes before you stroll along the Riverwalk – makes for a perfect start! There's this little place near the bridge that had the best pastries too.

My advice is to take the time to just chill by the water. Grab an ice cream and people-watch – it was one of the most relaxing parts of my trip!

Avoid the crowded lunch hours (around noon) if you're planning to grab a bite. I went around 1 PM and found some nice places with shorter lines and less chaos!
Maggie Daily Park

I suggest packing a picnic and enjoying one of the many grassy areas. The food prices at nearby stalls can add up quick!

If you're planning to rent a bike, try to do it early in the day. The afternoon crowd can get crazy and all the good rides will be gone – I learned it the hard way!

Take a stroll along the waterfront in the afternoon; the views are stunning! Just be prepared for the wind ;)
Maggie Daley Park

Bring your own snacks and drinks! The concession stands are a bit pricey, and I ended up spending way more than I expected. A little prep goes a long way.

I recommend checking out the ice skating ribbon in winter. It can get crowded, but if you go on a weekday, the experience is way better and you'll save yourself the hustle!

I think you should explore the gardens on the east side of the park. They’re a nice little oasis away from the playground chaos and a perfect spot to just chill.
Garfield Park Greenhouse
Look for special events on their website before you go. I was surprised to find an art installation happening that day! It added so much to my experience.

Check out the free admission! I couldn’t believe how amazing this place is and you don’t have to spend a dime. Just make sure to leave a donation since it's a total gem!
