Grinnell Glacier Trail

I suggest starting your hike early around 7 AM to beat the crowds and enjoy the peaceful scenery. It makes a huge difference
check the accessibility of the boat shuttle to get to the trailhead. it saves you a lot of hiking time—definitely worth it if you’re short on daylight.

I recommend wearing layers; the weather can change quickly up there. It was chilly in the morning and warm by noon, so I was glad I could adapt!

Bring extra snacks and plenty of water! You'll be burning energy, and trust me, the views are worth some extra calories.
Whitefish Mountain Resort

Try to get to the slopes by 8:30 AM for the best parking and fewer crowds on the lifts. We missed the early rush and had to wait in long lines later

Buy your lift tickets online ahead of time to save some cash. I paid a little extra at the window and regretted not planning ahead.

Definitely explore the zip-lines! They’re a blast, and you get some awesome views. I recommend going in the afternoon when there are fewer families around.

If you’re eating on the mountain, pack snacks or a lunch. The food options are pricier than expected. We spent way too much on mediocre food!
Big Hole River

bring your own gear if you can. rental prices can really add up and having your own stuff makes it easier to hit the sweet spots without waiting around.
Pack snacks and a good thermos of hot drink. The scenery can keep you out there for hours, and it's nice to not have to head back for a break.

Weather can change fast, so check forecasts before you go. I got caught in a storm and it wasn't fun trying to get back to my truck!
Avalanche Lake via the Trail of the Cedars

Bring plenty of water and snacks! The hike can get a bit tiring, and you'll want to recharge while enjoying the stunning views. I packed a little too light last time and regretted it.

Try to visit around 8 AM when the trail is less crowded. We enjoyed a peaceful hike and got some amazing photos before the rush came in.

Do not forget your camera! The views of the lake and the surrounding mountains are breathtaking. I wish I had taken more pictures instead of just enjoying the scenery!
Tally Lake Campground

Keep an eye on the weather! I didn’t think I’d need my rain jacket in August, but it poured one day. I suggest checking the forecast before you go, so you can pack accordingly and save yourself from soggy socks!
