Statue of Liberty
My advice is to visit during the week if you can. I went on a Saturday and the crowds were insane. It felt more rushed than relaxing.
I suggest taking the audio tour when you're on Liberty Island. It added so much to the experience and I felt like I was really learning about the history there.
Times Square
If you can, try to visit around 8 AM. The crowds are way smaller, and you can snap some great photos without too many people in the background.
Be cautious of street performers. They can be engaging, but some might ask for money after taking a pic with you. Enjoy them, but set boundaries!
Plan your bathroom breaks at the nearby McDonald's or fast food places. Public restrooms are tough to find, and those spots can help you avoid a long search.
Rockefeller Center
I wish I had known to wear comfy shoes. There’s a lot of walking and standing, especially if you want to explore the surrounding Rockefeller Plaza and catch the seasonal decorations or events
I recommend visiting during the weekdays, especially early in the morning around 9 am to avoid the weekend crowds. It's way more chill and you can actually enjoy the views without jostling for space.
While the observation deck is a must-do, I suggest also taking a walk around the area. The shops, including the famous Radio City Music Hall, are great, but keep an eye out for street performers. They can be really entertaining.
My advice is to time your visit around sunset. There's nothing like seeing the city turn from vibrant lights to twinkling stars, but book your ticket in advance to get that prime time!
The Brooklyn Bridge
My advice is to wear comfortable shoes. It's a longer stroll than it looks, and your feet will thank you by the end!
If you're planning to take photos, I suggest heading to the Brooklyn side before sunset for magical lighting. The skyline at dusk is awesome.
Chelsea Market
Explore the side shops too! Some of the coolest finds weren’t just in the food stalls, but in the neighboring boutiques. I discovered some unique souvenirs that way!
Check out the seating areas before you grab your food; some spots are much cozier than others... I found a hidden area at the back that was way less crowded!
Try to go on a weekday, preferably around 1 PM. Weekends get crazy crowded, and I struggled to even find a place to stand!
Bring cash! Some stalls only accept cash, and it can save you time waiting for the card machine. I learned this the hard way while standing in line!
St. Patrick's Cathedral
I think the gift shop has some unique souvenirs, but prices can be steep. I recommend setting a budget before you go in to avoid splurging.
Check out the visitor center first! They have great free maps and info that can help plan your visit and save you from getting lost.
I suggest visiting around 8 AM before the crowds hit, it's way more peaceful and you can appreciate the beauty of the cathedral without too many people blocking your view.
Vessel
My advice is to download the Vessel app beforehand. It gives you a map and info about each level which really enhanced my experience!
I found that the best views are actually from the surrounding areas, so don’t rush up and down. Take your time to admire the structure from different angles
United Nations Headquarters
If you’re into architecture, definitely spend time outside—there are amazing views and you can appreciate the building design before getting in.
If you're tight on budget, skip the souvenirs in the shop. They can be pricey! Consider taking photos outside instead.
Plan to arrive around 9:00 AM. It gets crowded later, and you'll get a better look at the Visitor Center before the rush hits.
Flatiron Building
Check out the statue of the cow on the second-floor balcony, it’s a fun photo op! I missed it but heard from friends that it’s a unique touch.
Check local events! I stumbled upon a street fair when I was visiting which made the whole experience way better; street performances and food everywhere!
Rainbow Bridge
Bring some water and snacks, especially if you plan on walking around. There aren’t many places to grab a bite nearby, and I found myself getting a bit hungry waiting in line.
Buy your parking pass online before you go. I saved a few bucks compared to paying on-site. Plus, it saves some time – you can just hustle to the bridge!
