The Oregon Museum of Science and Industry

I think the science store is a bit pricey, but if you want some cool souvenirs, look for sales or discounts. They have some unique stuff if you keep an eye out!

Check out the special exhibits online before you go. I missed out on a cool one because I didn't look ahead and ended up with less to see.
Take advantage of the members' discounts at the cafe. I saved a bunch on drinks just by showing my ticket. It's a nice perk!

My advice is to wear comfy shoes. You’ll be walking a lot, and some interactive exhibits require standing for a while. Trust me, your feet will thank you.
Pittock Mansion

If you're planning to take photos, try to avoid weekends. I found it pretty packed, which made it tricky to get that perfect shot in the gardens.

I suggest visiting in the late afternoon around 3 PM. The golden hour makes the views from the mansion just stunning, and it's less crowded too!

I recommend taking the free audio tour instead of the guided one. It lets you go at your own pace and it was super informative without the rush.

My advice is to check out the small gift shop before you leave. They have unique souvenirs and sometimes they have discounts towards the end of the day.
Pioneer Courthouse Square

Check out the schedule of events before you go—there's often live music or street performances happening that can really enhance your visit. I stumbled upon a free concert and it made my day!

If you want to save a few bucks, skip the major chains and check out local food vendors. The food carts around the square offer tasty, affordable options that really showcase Portland's food scene.
Avoid peak lunchtime if you want to find a good spot to sit. Around 12:30 PM, the area gets super crowded. I found it more pleasant around 2 PM after the lunch rush.

Remember to bring a camera! The architecture is stunning, and some parts of the square give you a unique perspective of the city. I wish I had taken more photos.
Portland Art Museum

Don't forget to stop by the gift shop on your way out. I found some unique souvenirs that you won't get anywhere else, and they're decently priced too!

My advice is to grab a map at the entrance. I thought I could wing it but I wasted time wandering around because I didn't know where things were
Portland Saturday Market

Don't overlook the food stalls. Some vendors offer samples, so you can taste different things before committing. My fave was the BBQ pulled pork sandwich - it was delish.

My advice is to bring cash. Not all vendors accept cards, plus it might save you some time when the lines get long. I got stuck waiting because I had to find an ATM!

I suggest you go early, around 10 am, to snag the best parking and avoid the heavy crowds. Trust me, it gets super packed later in the day!

Keep an eye out for live performances! There are often musicians or dancers showcasing their talents. It’s a great way to immerse yourself in the local culture and adds so much to your experience.
Grotto

Don’t forget to bring your own snacks and a water bottle. The cafe there can be a bit pricey and limited in options. I found some cute spots to sit and munch on my own food, which felt way better!

Keep your eye out for special events. I stumbled upon a lovely choir performance during my visit which was unexpected and magical. You might want to check the website for any happenings before you go.

I recommend visiting The Grotto on a weekday if you can. The weekends get super crowded and it’s tough to enjoy the peace and beauty. I went on a Tuesday, and it was way more tranquil!
Tilikum Bridge

Keep an eye out for the free street parking along the waterfront. I saved a few bucks that way instead of hitting up the paid lots

I suggest visiting in the early morning, around 8 AM, to enjoy a peaceful stroll and great lighting for photos. Trust me, it's way less crowded then.

Bring a good pair of walking shoes! There's a nice path to explore around the bridge and I regretted wearing sandals.
St. John's

I suggest hitting St. John's around 9 AM to avoid the crowds and really soak in the unique architecture. Plus, the morning light is fantastic for photos!

If you're on a budget, grab coffee and pastries from a local bakery instead of dining out. It’s a nice way to fuel up without breaking the bank

I think you should try to visit the Old St. John's Bridge. The view is stunning and it's a nice spot for a leisurely stroll. Just watch out for weekend traffic – it can get busy.

My advice is to take a self-guided walking tour. I downloaded an app before I arrived which helped me explore at my own pace and taught me cool history while saving on tour costs.
Portland Children's Museum

Don't miss the outdoor area! It was surprisingly fun and a great way for the kids to burn off some energy. We spent more time there than I expected!

i think you should bring your own snacks. the cafe was nice, but prices were a bit high for snacks, and it's easier to have biscuits on hand for the little ones.

I suggest getting there right when they open at 9 AM to avoid the crowds. It was way more fun without too many kids around, and we got to explore everything in a relaxed way

Check out the free parking options nearby! I was nervous about the costs, but we found a lot just a few minutes away which saved us some cash for goodies inside.
Jamison Square

If you're looking to save some cash, pack a picnic. There are plenty of green spots to chill and enjoy your meal. I spent way too much at nearby cafes when I could have just enjoyed lunch in the park.

I suggest visiting Jamison Square in the late afternoon around 4 PM to catch the gorgeous sunset over the buildings. The lighting is perfect for photos! I totally missed this on my first visit
