Veterans Park
My advice is to bring a packed lunch! There are picnic spots throughout the park, and grabbing a sandwich before you go can save you cash compared to nearby places.
I recommend visiting in the morning around 9 AM... The park is less crowded, and you can enjoy the tranquility while soaking in the views... Plus, the lighting is great for pictures!
Lake Park
My advice is to pack a picnic. There are some awesome spots to relax, and it'll save you some cash instead of buying food nearby, which can be pricey.
I think you should definitely check out the Milwaukee Art Museum nearby after the park. It's so close, and tickets are usually cheaper on Tuesdays. We paid way too much trying to go on a weekend!
South Shore Park
I suggest checking out the park in the early mornin', like around 7 AM. It's super peaceful then and you can grab a great spot by the lake before it gets crowded.
Lakeshore State Park
If you can, visit on a weekday around 10 AM. It was way less crowded, and I could enjoy the serene views without feeling rushed or bumping into people everywhere.
Cathedral Square Park
If you're planning on catching any live music events, check the schedule ahead of time. I missed a band I really wanted to see because I assumed they’d be playing when I arrived in the evening.
Humboldt Park
Make sure to bring a picnic. I saw people enjoying lunch on the lawns, and it’s cheaper than grabbing takeout nearby. I wish I brought my own snacks instead of spending too much at the cafe.
I suggest checking out the weekly events before you go! I stumbled upon a local festival while I was there on a Saturday and it made my visit so much more fun. Plus, free entertainment is always a win!
Pere Marquette Park
Swing Park
Check out the swings right away! I found them super fun and a highlight of the visit but they can be super popular so get on them before the kids swarm!
