If you're planning to visit, I recommend going early in the morning, around 7 AM. The light is perfect for photos and you'll dodge the larger crowds that start arriving later.
Consider hiring a local guide. I did this and it really enriched my experience with interesting stories and historical context that I wouldn't have gotten otherwise
Bring a good pair of walking shoes! The temple grounds are vast, and the uneven surfaces can be tricky. I wish I had known this before I ventured too far.
