I think it’s smart to avoid peak seasons. We went in late September, and it was less crowded and more intimate. However, Paris is still lovely in autumn, so you can't go wrong.
I suggest booking one of the rooms with a terrace; the view is amazing at sunset! I loved sipping wine there. Just remember, it can get a bit breezy, so bring a light jacket if you're cozying up outside.
Make sure to ask for extra towels when you check in; the ones in the room are a bit small for two. After a long day of exploring, I really appreciated having more on hand!
