If you can, go in the morning around 8 AM. The square is way less crowded, and you can snap some awesome pics without tons of tourists in the background. Trust me, it's way more peaceful then.
I suggest keeping an eye out for the changing of the guard ceremony; it's pretty cool! Just make sure you check the schedule online because it doesn’t happen every hour and I missed it!
a really cool thing is to explore the area around the castle too. i think a lot of people just stick to the square, but there are some hidden gems nearby that are worth a few extra steps.
