Don’t forget to check out the church itself after seeing The Last Supper. It's stunning, and I was kinda surprised I enjoyed it just as much as the main attraction.
You should definitely consider going on a weekday if possible. The crowd was way smaller than when I went on a Saturday, making it so much easier to soak in the atmosphere.
If you're traveling on a budget, you might want to avoid the overpriced souvenirs from the little shops outside. I made the mistake and regretted not looking for better prices in town.
