I suggest wearing comfortable shoes. The cobblestone streets can be a bit tricky, especially if you decide to wander around the Trastevere area after your visit.

check out the piazza right outside the basilica if you can! it's a great spot for people-watching and has some awesome little cafes for a quick coffee.
