My advice is to check the tide charts before you go. I went when the tide was too low, and the surfing conditions were a total bummer.
If you're planning to surf, try to get there by 6 AM. The waves are best in the morning, and you’ll beat the crowds. It's so worth it!
Bring your own snacks and drinks, because the nearby cafes can be pretty pricey. I ended up spending way too much on a sandwich!
