Amphitheater of Pompeii

Grab a digital guide or an audio tour! The signs are a bit sparse and having some context really makes the ruins come to life. I regret not doing this during my visit.
Excavations in Pompeii
Make sure to wear good walking shoes. The cobbled streets are tough on your feet. I didn’t realize how much walking I’d be doing and regretted my sandal choice!

Look out for toilet facilities before you get too deep into the ruins. I totally forgot and had to retrace my steps back to the entrance which wasted quite a bit of time!

I recommend taking your time in the frescoed villas. They’re stunning, but also busy. If you can, go on a weekday for a quieter experience - I went on a Saturday, and it was packed!

Pack a bottle of water and some snacks. There are a few places to eat, but I found it cheaper and more relaxing to munch while exploring. Plus, sitting in the shade with a snack is a perfect break!
Church of Our Lady of the Rosary

Bring a light sweater or shawl. The interior can get a bit chilly, and you’ll want to respect the dress code. I had to buy a scarf there, which was a bit pricey.

Don’t miss the chance to explore the adjacent gardens. They’re super peaceful and a great spot for some photos. I almost rushed out without seeing them!

Porta Marina

I suggest buying your ticket online in advance. It saved me a bunch of time, and I could skip the long lines, especially during peak season.

My advice is to wear comfy shoes! The paths are uneven and can get a bit tiring. I learned this the hard way after my first hour.
