The Ailey Studios

I suggest sticking around after classes for a bit. Sometimes the instructors will share cool tips or tricks informally, and it can really boost your learning experience.

My advice is to wear comfy clothes, but don't go overboard. You'll see plenty of different styles and it’s not all about the perfection. Just be yourself!
I recommend checking their class schedule in advance. Some classes fill up fast, and you want to secure your spot without waiting!
House of Yes

I suggest bringing cash for drinks. I learned the hard way that the card fees can add up fast, and some vendors only take cash.

My advice is to check out their themed nights; some are way more fun than others. I was there for a costume party, and it was a blast!

I recommend getting there around 10 PM to snag a good spot near the stage. It gets packed quickly, and you'll want a nice view for the performances.

I think it’s smart to follow them on social media for any last-minute updates or special deals. They sometimes post discount codes for entry.
Broadway Dance Center

If you're coming from out of town, try to avoid rush hour. Getting to BDC can be a bit cramped on the subway during those times; I got stuck in a sweaty rush once.

I suggest checking the class schedule online before you go. Some classes can fill up fast so it helps to plan ahead. I missed out on a few of my top picks because I didn’t do this!

I recommend chatting with the instructors after class. They’re super friendly and can give you tips on which classes to take next. I learned a lot just by asking a few questions!

My advice is to invest in a couple of drop-in classes instead of just one. They often have deals for multiple classes which saves you some cash and lets you explore more styles!
Kaufman Astoria Studios

Plan to grab lunch at a nearby cafe before or after your visit. I found the studio area a bit lacking in dining options, so we had to walk a while to find a good spot. A little research saved me from hunger pangs!

I suggest taking the 2 PM tour instead of the morning one. It's usually less crowded and you get a better chance to ask questions. I had some amazing insights from the guide since we had more time!
Elsewhere

Don’t forget to bring cash for tips! Bartenders appreciate it, and it can make a difference in how quick your drinks come when it’s busy.

I suggest checking out their events calendar online before you go. Some nights have special themes or DJs that can really amp up the vibe.

I think it's wise to dress comfortably but stylishly. You'll be dancing, and you don’t want to feel out of place with the crowd

You might want to get there around 10 PM if you want a good spot to dance; it gets packed very quickly after that!
Steiner Studios

Consider taking the subway instead of driving. Parking can be a hassle and really expensive, plus the subway drops you right by the studio.

I suggest checking their schedule online before you go. Some days they have more tours available than others, and I nearly missed one because I didn’t plan ahead.

If you're on a budget, I recommend visiting on a weekday. It was less crowded when I went on a Tuesday, and I got a more personal experience.

My advice is to bring a reusable water bottle. They have fountains, and you can save money rather than buying drinks inside!
Silvercup Studios

I recommend bringing a snack if you're going to be there for a while. The cafes around can be pricey and have limited options. I wished I had packed something!

I suggest checking their social media for any open house events or special tours. I found out too late that they had one while I was there, and it would’ve been super cool!

Try to catch a glimpse of a live filming if you can. I stumbled upon one and it was so exciting! Just be aware of potential delays.
Lincoln Centre

For the best experience, I suggest arriving an hour early. You can wander around the beautiful plaza, soak in the vibe, and check out the outdoor art installations.

Pro tip: If you're interested in the architecture, take some time to explore the surroundings. I stumbled upon interesting spots like the nice sculptures and fountains that aren't usually mentioned in guides

If you want the best photo ops, head to the fountain right before sunset. The light is just magical then, and it's less crowded. I managed to get some stunning snaps!
Birdland

If you're considering the food, I’d say it wasn’t the best value. I think you should eat beforehand so you can just focus on the tunes and not the overpriced snacks

The drink prices can be a bit steep. I recommend grabbing a cocktail before arriving. You’ll save some cash and enjoy the music without worrying about your wallet too much.
Come early—like around 6 PM. The space fills up fast, and you’ll want to grab a good seat. I missed out on a great view because I arrived just before the show started!
Birdland Jazz Club

I recommend keeping an eye out for happy hour specials on drinks, they run from 5-7 PM, which can really help you save a few bucks while you enjoy the vibe!

I think arriving around 6:30 PM is key. The earlier you get in the more relaxed you’ll feel and you can enjoy a cocktail before the music starts!

My advice is to check who’s performing ahead of time. Some artists have a way bigger draw, and you might want to book tickets earlier to get good seats!
