Market Reading-Terminal-Market

Try to visit on a weekday around 11 am to beat the weekend crowds. It's way easier to enjoy the vendors and grab a seat at the communal tables.

Don't skip the iconic Philly cheesesteaks, but maybe split one with a friend to keep your budget in check. They're huge!

I suggest exploring the space thoroughly before deciding where to eat. There are hidden gems with awesome food you might miss otherwise.

Consider visiting in the morning for breakfast options like the doughnuts or baked goods. It's less crowded and you can enjoy your coffee with some quiet.
Liberty Bell

The displays around the bell are really interesting, so take your time to read them. I ended up learning a lot about its history that I didn't expect. Don't just snap a photo and dash!

Check out the surrounding area too! Independence Hall is right next door, and there’s so much history. I suggest planning at least a couple of hours to explore this entire area
Make sure your camera is charged! The bell and the whole park are super photogenic. I regretted not having my camera ready for some incredible shots with the backdrop of Independence Hall.

Grab a quick breakfast at one of the nearby cafes before you go. You can even pack a little snack and enjoy it while you take in the views. It’ll save you time and give you more energy!
Philadelphia Museum of Art

Don’t miss the Rocky Steps outside for a classic photo op! I thought it was just a tourist trap, but it’s a fun part of the experience.
The Franklin Institute
Plan to visit the IMAX show, it's totally worth it. But book your seats in advance if you can, they sell out quick!

If you want to save on food, pack a snack or two. The café prices are a bit steep for what you get. Just saying!

My advice is to check out the live science demonstrations—they're super fun and interactive. Don't miss the schedule!

I think the best time to arrive is right when they open at 9:30 am. It's way less crowded then, and you can see more without rushing.
Rocky Steps

If you're on a budget, skip the overpriced cafe by the museum and bring your own snacks or grab something from a local deli. It’ll save you a few bucks for souvenirs instead!

My advice is to explore the surrounding area after your visit – the Fairmount Park has some beautiful trails and views that are definitely worth your time.

Make sure to bring a camera or charge your phone – the view from the top of the steps is iconic, and you’ll want to capture that moment!

I suggest visiting early in the morning, around 8 AM, to avoid crowds and have the place almost to yourself for those perfect selfies with the art museum behind you
Eastern State Penitentiary Tours

My advice is to bring a small water bottle. You'll want to stay hydrated while wandering around the massive complex, and there's not much nearby to grab a drink.

I recommend getting your tickets online in advance so you can skip the line when you arrive. It saves time and gives you more time to explore!

I suggest checking out the audio guide option. It’s super informative and gives you some great back stories you won’t get just by wandering around
Philadelphia Penitentiary

If you can, try to visit on a weekday rather than the weekend. It was way less crowded, and the guides had more time to answer questions and chat.

Look for discount tickets online before going. I stumbled upon a deal on a website that saved me some cash. Every little bit helps!

Bring a fully charged phone or camera! The place is super photogenic and I wished I had captured more moments but my battery died too soon.
Check the weather! I assumed it would be mild but ended up caught in a storm. Plan ahead and dress for the weather to enjoy your visit fully.
Rittenhouse Square

If you're planning on spending some time there, I recommend wearing comfy shoes. The square itself is beautiful, but walking around the local area is part of the fun!
I suggest visiting Rittenhouse Square early in the morning around 8 AM. The park is quieter, making it perfect for some peaceful strolling and photography without crowds.
Please Touch Museum

Bring a packed lunch or snacks! The cafe is decent, but prices can jump up a bit. I saved a ton by munching on my own food at the picnic area.

If you can, spend some time in the Water Play area. It was a highlight of our visit! Just make sure to bring a change of clothes for the little ones.
Independence Hall

Grab your tickets online before you go! I waited in line for way too long like a fool, and I missed some cool stuff while I was stuck there

Don’t just stick to Independence Hall—wander around the surrounding park! I found some cool little spots for pics and it didn't cost me anything extra.

If you can, visit around 9 AM when they open. It was way less crowded, and I could really soak in the history without bumping arms with tons of other people.
