Culture in Philadelphia:
Market Reading-Terminal-Market
I recommend checking out the local artisanal vendors. The handmade goods are unique and make perfect souvenirs without breaking the bank.
Liberty Bell
Grab a quick breakfast at one of the nearby cafes before you go. You can even pack a little snack and enjoy it while you take in the views. It’ll save you time and give you more energy!
If you can, go on a weekday morning right when it opens at 9 AM. It gets pretty crowded later, and you'll get great photos without throngs of people. I really enjoyed the peace before the rush.
Philadelphia Museum of Art
The Franklin Institute
My advice is to check out the live science demonstrations—they're super fun and interactive. Don't miss the schedule!
I think the best time to arrive is right when they open at 9:30 am. It's way less crowded then, and you can see more without rushing.
Rocky Steps
My advice is to explore the surrounding area after your visit – the Fairmount Park has some beautiful trails and views that are definitely worth your time.
Make sure to bring a camera or charge your phone – the view from the top of the steps is iconic, and you’ll want to capture that moment!
I suggest visiting early in the morning, around 8 AM, to avoid crowds and have the place almost to yourself for those perfect selfies with the art museum behind you
Philadelphia Penitentiary
Bring a fully charged phone or camera! The place is super photogenic and I wished I had captured more moments but my battery died too soon.
Check the weather! I assumed it would be mild but ended up caught in a storm. Plan ahead and dress for the weather to enjoy your visit fully.
Eastern State Penitentiary Tours
I suggest checking out the audio guide option. It’s super informative and gives you some great back stories you won’t get just by wandering around
Rittenhouse Square
I suggest visiting Rittenhouse Square early in the morning around 8 AM. The park is quieter, making it perfect for some peaceful strolling and photography without crowds.
Please Touch Museum
If you can, spend some time in the Water Play area. It was a highlight of our visit! Just make sure to bring a change of clothes for the little ones.
