Hermann Park

Definitely check out the McGovern Centennial Gardens while you're there... It's super beautiful and peaceful... I spent way more time there than I planned, but it was so worth it!

Try to catch the little train ride. It’s only a few bucks, but it was a fun way to see the park without getting exhausted. Kids love it too!
Discovery Green

I suggest visiting in the early morning around 8 AM for a quieter experience. The park feels completely different before the crowds show up, and you can really enjoy the beauty of it all.

If you want to save time, check the event schedule online before your visit. I missed out on a cool outdoor movie night because I didn't know it was happening!

My advice is to bring a picnic! There are lots of great spots to sit and relax, plus you'll save some money instead of eating at nearby restaurants.

Look out for local food trucks! They have some delicious options that you won’t find at regular food stalls. I tried one that had amazing tacos and it was way cheaper than a sit-down meal.
Memorial Park

Wear comfy shoes, 'cause the trails can get long – I ended up with sore feet after wandering around. I think that a good pair of sneakers would’ve made my exploration way more enjoyable.

There's a rad free outdoor workout area, so bring your own mat if you can! I didn't and ended up on the grass, which wasn't the most comfy.

I suggest hitting the park early, around 7 AM, to dodge crowds and enjoy the peaceful vibe while jogging or walking the trails. It's such a calming start to the day!
Gerald D. Guinness Falls Park

If you're planning to visit on a weekend, try to get there by 9 AM. It gets super crowded later, and you’ll find way more space to enjoy the falls and take pics without all the people in the background.

Pack a picnic! The park has some great spots to chill, and eating out in the area can get pricey. I brought sandwiches and enjoyed them by the water – best decision ever!

Check out the local food trucks that hang out in the parking area; they're a gem! Prices are better than nearby restaurants, plus it’s fun to try a variety of cuisines without breaking the bank.

Don't forget your sunscreen, even if it's cloudy! I spent half the day thinking I was safe, but ended up looking like a lobster. Trust me, reapply every few hours!
Buffalo Bayou Park

If you want to save some bucks, bring your own snacks instead of buying at the park. The food options can be pricey, and there are plenty of nice spots to picnic.

I suggest renting a bike to explore the park. Walking is cool, but the bike path covers way more ground. I missed some hidden gems because I walked!
Houston Arboretum & Nature Center

don't overlook the small exhibits near the entrance. i found some hidden gems and fun facts that made my walk even more interesting. just keep an open mind!

I recommend visiting on a weekday morning around 9 AM. It was way less crowded, so I really enjoyed the peaceful vibe on the trails!

I suggest wearing good walking shoes because the trails can get a bit muddy after rain. I learned that the hard way when my sneakers got all dirty.

If you're on a budget, skip the gift shop and bring your own snacks! The views are beautiful, and a picnic makes for a great relaxing experience
Sam Houston Park

Bring your own snacks and drinks. The nearby shops can get pricey. I packed a picnic, and it was a great way to relax and enjoy the park atmosphere.

I recommend visiting on a weekday if you can. The park is way less crowded, making it much more enjoyable to stroll around and take photos without a million people in the background.
