Montanita Beach
I recommend staying in a hostal close to the beach. It can save you a lot on taxi rides! I stayed a little further out and wished I hadn't because it was a hassle walking back late at night.
If you're planning to surf, check out the local surf schools. They have great deals! I found one that offered lessons and board rental for way less than expected, saving me a ton.
La Carolina
If you want to save some cash, grab a sandwich or snacks from a nearby local shop before entering. I spent a bit too much on overpriced food in the park.
i suggest bringing a light jacket, even in sunny weather, 'cause it can get a bit chilly in the evening. i underestimated this and ended up shivering in my t-shirt!
Don’t skip the botanical gardens. They're super pretty! But I think I could’ve enjoyed them more if I’d planned a proper route first. I wandered around and missed some cool spots.
Papallacta Hot Springs
Galapagos Islands
My advice is to hit the beaches early in the morning around 6 AM. The crowds are smaller, and you’ll have a better chance to catch some epic waves before the sun gets too hot.
I think it's worth checking out Playa Mann as it has decent waves for all skill levels. But be mindful of overcrowding; I found that the best time to surf is right before lunchtime when things start to slow down.
If you're planning to watch the sunset, don’t miss out on the views from the Malecon. Grab some street food from the local vendors nearby, and you’ll get an amazing end to your day without breaking the bank.
Quilotoa Lagoon
Seminario Park
Bring some snacks and water; there aren’t many places right nearby to grab a bite. I was glad I had a granola bar with me!
