If you can, take the train from Alausí; it's a smoother ride and gives you more time to soak in the beautiful landscapes compared to starting at Sibambe.

I recommend checking the train schedule ahead of time and booking tickets online if possible. I missed out on a ride because I didn't plan, and it was a bummer
