Dune Du Pilat
If you love an epic view, try to catch the sunset. It gets super crowded around 6-7 PM, but trust me, the colors are worth it. Just plan to arrive early.
I suggest bringing a backpack with water and snacks; there’s really not much around once you’re on the dune, and it’s a good trek to the top!
Verdon Gorge
If you're planning to try kayaking, go early! I went around 10 am, and the lines got super long by noon. I suggest getting there right at 9 to beat the rush.
Make sure you bring lots of water! I ran out really quick, and it can get super hot during the day. I think a hydration pack is a great investment if you plan to hike.
The driving along the Gorge is stunning, but don’t rush! I suggest setting aside a whole day for stops and views. You don’t wanna miss the best photo spots that pop up around every corner.
GR-20
Don't underestimate the difficulty of the trail! Bring plenty of water and snacks, I suggest packing extra energy bars – trust me, you'll need them. I ran out way too soon!
Try to start your hike by 7 AM; the sunrise is breathtaking and you’ll avoid the crowds. I didn't do this and regretted not getting those picture-perfect moments!
Cirque De Gavarnie
Wear sturdy shoes. The trails can get slippery in places, especially if you go after it rains. I learned that the hard way.
Lac Blanc
I suggest packing a good lunch and snacks to enjoy by the lake. There aren't many places to grab food nearby, and a picnic by the water is the best way to take a break. Don't forget the water!
I think it's worth checking out the trails that lead away from the main path. Less people, and you might find a hidden spot to chill or score some awesome views. Just be careful with your map!
Jura Mountains
Pack some snacks and water for hikes! I brought some trail mix and saved a ton on overpriced snacks at the view points. Plus, it kept the energy up while exploring!
Luberon Mountain Trails
Bring plenty of water and some snacks. I was so focused on the view that I forgot to hydrate – ended up feeling a bit woozy. A portable snack stash will keep your energy up!
I suggest visiting in the early morning, around 7 AM. Trust me, the sunrise views are breathtaking and the trails are less crowded then – I wish I had gotten up earlier!
Mont Buet
I suggest bringing your own snacks and water. There are few places to buy food up there, and I spent too much on a sandwich at a small café. Pack well and save some cash!
My advice is to check the weather a day before and don’t trust it 100%. I got caught in a sudden rain shower! But it was still pretty fun, just not ideal.
Robert Louis Stevenson Trail
I recommend starting your hike around 7 AM. That way, you can enjoy the cooler weather and the stunning views without the crowds. Trust me, it makes a huge difference.
GR 5
Pack some snacks that won't squish in your backpack. I brought a couple of protein bars, but I wish I’d packed some nuts or trail mix – they hold up better while hiking!
