Bring a blanket and some snacks if you can! There’s nothing like having a little picnic while people-watching in such a lovely park setting.
if you want some stunning photos, head to the vajdahunyad castle at golden hour—around 6 pm. the lighting is amazing for pictures, and it’s less busy by then.
I recommend wearing comfortable shoes. The park is more extensive than it looks, and you'll want to walk around without worrying about blisters.
Elizabeth Square
Watch for the public events in the park; I accidentally found an outdoor concert. It was a fun surprise, and didn’t cost anything!
check out the local street art nearby. i stumbled upon some awesome murals just a short walk away from the square – definitely worth a look for some great photos!
If you're into coffee, pop into a nearby café instead of the big chains. I found a cozy little place with great brews and it was way more charming.
Bukk National Park
I suggest visiting in late spring or early fall for the best weather and fewer crowds. I went in summer, and it was packed – not as enjoyable as I hoped!
Budakeszi Wildlife Park
Check out the feeding times for the animals; it’s when they’re most active and fun to watch. I missed a couple top feedings and regretted it!
I recommend visiting on a weekday; it’s way less crowded. I went on a Saturday and felt like I couldn’t see anything!
Make sure to bring a packed lunch; the food options are pretty pricey for what you get. I wish I had my own snacks!
Don’t forget to wear comfy shoes! The park is larger than it seems and there’s a lot of walking involved. I learned that the hard way!
Khortobad
I suggest bringing a picnic! The parks here are super scenic, and there's nothing like enjoying a meal surrounded by nature. Plus, it can save you some cash instead of eating at overpriced cafes.
If you're considering renting a bike do it! It's a fun way to explore the park and bike rentals are cheap. Make sure to check the hours though; I found some places closed earlier than expected
People's Park
Check out the tram system for a quick ride there. Parking can be a hassle and it's easy to miss out on the fun if you spend time searching for a spot.
If you can, visit on a weekday instead of the weekend. It was much quieter when I went on Tuesday, and I really enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere.
Grab some snacks from a nearby grocery store before heading in. I ended up spending too much at the overpriced kiosks inside, which wasn't worth it.
