Make sure to bring a water bottle, especially in summer! It can get really hot while you're walking around, and refilling at the fountains helps save a few bucks. I totally forgot mine and regretted it.

Check for local events before you go. I stumbled upon a cultural festival during my visit, and it added a unique touch to my experience. Who knows what you might find!

It's best to wear comfy shoes. There's a lot of walking involved, and some paths are a bit uneven. I wore flip-flops, and let’s just say it didn't end well!

If you're into photography, I recommend visiting around sunset. The lighting is beautiful, and you can avoid some of the crowds. It makes for some awesome pics!
Ile-Alatau National Park

My advice is to check the weather before you go. I didn't, and got caught in a surprise downpour. Those mountain storms can be no joke!

Don’t forget to bring a cash for small entrance fees or local snacks. Some places don't take cards, and it's super annoying when you know you want something but can't pay.

If you’re planning on hiking, start around 7 AM. The early morning light is gorgeous and the trails are much cooler at that time. Just trust me on this one!

I remember taking a lotof pictures but missing the moment. Don’t forget to actually look at the views without your camera for a bit—it's so stunning!

Watch out for the peacocks! They’re beautiful, but they can get a bit aggressive if you have food. I learned that the hard way—keep treats to yourself!

Don’t forget to check out the Zenkov Cathedral—it's beautiful! I almost skipped it but was so glad I didn’t. It’s right there and stunning in person!

Take some time to stroll slowly and soak in the atmosphere. I rushed at first but realized that the park has hidden gems around every corner!

I recommend visiting Charyn in the early morning around 7 AM. The light is perfect for pics, and it’s way less crowded. You’ll have the amazing rock formations all to yourself!
Bayanaul National Park

I suggest you pack some snacks and water for your hikes. There aren’t many places to grab a bite in the park, and I ended up a bit hungry while exploring. Plus, it helps save a few bucks.

Check out the local yurts for a unique stay! It’s a bit pricier than camping, but the experience is totally worth it. Just make sure to reserve in advance, they fill up fast!

You must visit in early morning or just before sunset for that magical lighting. The views are stunning, especially at sunset, and way less crowded compared to midday.
Issyk Lake

I recommend getting there early, around 8 AM, to beat the crowds and catch the stunning sunrise over the lake. It’s totally worth it! The views are unreal.

My advice is to bring your own snacks and drinks. The prices at local kiosks can be a bit high, and you don't want to waste time hunting for food when you could be enjoying the scenery.
Kolsai Lakes
don't forget to bring cash! some of the small shops and cafes around the lakes don’t accept cards, so you'll want to stock up on tenge beforehand.

I recommend starting your day early, around 7 AM. The sunrise over the lakes is simply breathtaking and you’ll avoid the crowds. Plus, you’ll have more time to explore.

Consider taking a local bus instead of a taxi from Almaty to save a few bucks. It’s a bit of an adventure, but you’ll meet some friendly locals along the way!
Altyn-Emel National Park

Check the weather before you go. It gets really hot in the afternoon, but mornings and evenings are perfect for hiking. I underestimated the heat and ended up too tired to enjoy everything!

I recommend renting a car if you can; the park is super spread out. The public transport options are kinda limited and you'll save a lot of time exploring. Plus having your own ride gives you more freedom!

Don't miss the singing dunes at sunrise. It’s honestly magical and way less crowded! If you can, aim to get there by 6 AM for the best experience and the beautiful morning light.

Bring cash! Many of the local vendors and park fees don't accept cards. I ran out of cash and it was a hassle finding an ATM nearby. It's best to be prepared.
