Etosha National Park
For a real treat, try to stay at a lodge that has floodlit waterholes. I didn’t, and missed out on seeing nighttime wildlife. I reallly regretted that; it’s a unique experience!
My advice is to bring your own food and drinks. The park's restaurants can get pricey and sometimes they close early. A packed lunch at a scenic spot can be really special!
I think it’s smart to download offline maps before you go. Cell service can be spotty, and you'd hate to get lost on those dirt roads without some help!
Skeleton Coast National Park
Waterberg
Definetly pack a lot of water and snacks before hitting the trails. I ran out of energy halfway up the hike and had to turn back. It really makes a huge diffence to have your own supplies!
Daan Viljoen Game Reserve
I suggest visiting early in the morning, around 7 AM, to catch the stunning sunrise and see more wildlife active. The light is also perfect for photos!
I think it’s worth doing the shorter hike if you’re not used to trekking; it’s beautiful and lets you see a lot without exhausting yourself. The 8 km one might feel lengthy on a hot day.
My advice is to bring your own snacks and drinks. The reserve’s cafe can be pricey and has limited options, so packing a picnic can save you some bucks.
Zoo Park
I think it’s worth getting a local sim card for data so you can check the zoo's schedule before you go. I missed a feeding show because I didn’t check in advance, and it was the best part for other visitors!
Tsau Hub National Park
I suggest you pack a picnic lunch and plenty of water. The park is vast and finding restaurants nearby is tricky. Eating in the park helped us save time and enjoy the scenery!
