Van Gogh Museum

If you're planning to check out the gift shop, do it after your tour. It was a bit of a headache trying to get through the crowd right after the visit, plus they had some great sales I missed out on.

Make sure to download the museum's app before your visit. It has awesome audio guides that are super informative, and it really enhanced my experience without me needing to hire a guide.

I think the best time to visit is right when they open at 9 AM. I got to enjoy the galleries almost by myself for the first hour and took some fantastic photos without anyone photobombing me.

I suggest visiting on a weekday, especially Tuesday or Wednesday. The place felt way less crowded, and I could truly appreciate the art without people jostling me for space
Rijksmuseum

My advice is to plan for at least 3 hours. I thought I’d be done sooner but there’s just so much amazing stuff to see!

I suggest visiting on a weekday if you can - it’s way less crowded than on the weekends, which means more time with the art and less waiting in lines!

Check out the museum’s closing time! I nearly missed a few exhibits because I didn’t know they start closing off areas 30 minutes before the official time
Anne Frank House

I suggest buying your tickets online in advance. The lines can get super long, and you don't want to waste precious time standing around. Got my tickets a week ahead and it made everything smoother!

Consider going either around 11am or after 4pm. I noticed it was way quieter during those times, giving me more space to explore and take photos. Mornings can be packed!

My advice is to skip the audio guide unless you really want it. I found the displays were informative enough. Plus, it cost an extra few euros that I’d rather save for a snack later!
Museum Nemo

Buy your tickets online in advance! It saved me time standing in line and I even got a small discount.

Plan to spend at least 2-3 hours here. There’s so much to see and do interacting with all the cool exhibits kept me entertained.

Take the time to explore the hands-on exhibits. I initially skipped them, but I ended up having the most fun there—it’s all about engaging with science!
If you can, visit on a weekday morning around 10 a.m. to avoid the crowds; I did that, and it felt way more relaxed.
Sex Palace Peep Show
Flower Market

Check out the smaller stalls; some have unique flower varieties that you won't find in the bigger shops. I found a gorgeous peony there!

If you're planning to buy bulbs, make sure you read the labels carefully. I bought some that weren’t permitted back in my country, so now I'm stuck with them!

Look for some local cafés nearby for a coffee break. I found one just a block away that served the best Dutch apple pie while I rested my feet!

Don't forget to explore the surrounding area! The architecture around the market is stunning, and it’s a great chance to capture some truly beautiful photos.
Museum of Prostitution Red Light Secrets

If you're on a budget, check their website for discount tickets. I saved a few euros by booking online instead of buying at the door.

Don't rush through the exhibits! Take your time with the audio guide; it really adds depth to what you're seeing and hearing.

Keep an eye out for the little interactive stations. They’re fun and provide some unique insights that you might miss if you just read the signs.

I recommend taking a break in the café after your visit. It’s a nice spot to reflect on everything you just learned and unwind a bit.
Zaanse Schans

grab some snacks and drinks before you go. the cafes can be a bit pricey, and a little picnic by the river can make for a nice break and save some cash.

Be sure to wear comfortable shoes. The paths can get a bit uneven, and there’s a lot of walking to truly enjoy the scenery and explore the area

I suggest getting to Zaanse Schans by 9 AM. It's way less crowded, and you’ll have a better chance to take those perfect photos without a bunch of tourists in the background.

If you're on a budget, skip the more expensive windmill tours and check out the free ones; they all give you a good taste of the history without breaking the bank.
