Polinsian Spa

I totally recommend booking your treatments a few weeks in advance, especially for the popular ones like the mud baths. I thought I could just walk in, but no luck—everything was booked out!

If you're looking to save some cash, try the all-day pass instead of individual treatments. I regret not doing that because it allows you to enjoy multiple facilities without breaking the bank.
Waiotapu Thermal Wonderland

Take your time along the paths; the colors and formations are incredible. I almost rushed through, but hanging back gave me time to get some great photos.

I highly recommend visiting the Champagne Pool - it's a stunner, but try to get there early, around 9 am, to beat the crowds and see it in the best light.

Don’t forget sunscreen! Even on cloudy days, the UV rays can be strong here. I learned that the hard way, trust me!

I suggest packing a light snack. There are not many food options in the park and I found the prices a bit steep.
The Lost Spring

My advice is to bring your own snacks and drinks. The on-site café is a bit pricey, and I wish I had packed some food to save a few bucks and enjoy by the hot springs
Hanmer Springs Thermal Pools & Spa

I think bringing your own snacks and drinks is a good idea. The food there is decent, but it's pricey, and enjoying a picnic made our day even better.

My advice is to book your tickets online in advance. This saved us a few bucks and a lot of time waiting in line.

I recommend visiting during the weekdays if you can. It was way less crowded than on weekends, and we really enjoyed the pools without feeling rushed.

I suggest spending time in the various spa options. I tried a massage and it was a fantastic way to enhance the experience after soaking in the pools.
Onsen Hot Pools

Book your spot online in advance, especially on weekends. They fill up fast, and trust me, you don't want to miss out on soaking in those stunning views

My advice is to wear flip-flops! The walkways can get slippery, and you don’t want to risk a fall while juggling towels and your swim gear.
Hotwater Springs - Low Tide

Bring your own towels and snacks. I made the mistake of buying overpriced food from the nearby cafe. It’s way more fun to chill and eat what you love

I recommend going during low tide for the best experience. I went around 10 AM, and it was perfect! The hot springs were amazing, and I got to dig my own pool.
Polynesian Spa, Rotorua
I suggest booking your tickets online in advance to snag a good deal. I saved a few bucks by doing this compared to buying on arrival.

If you're planning to have a treatment, book it early. I waited until I got there and missed out on the best slots - it was a bummer!
Mount Hot Pools

I suggest booking your entrance online to save a few bucks; we saved around 10% doing that! Plus, you skip the long line at the entrance when you show up.

If you're looking for a more private experience, try going on a weekday around 3 PM. We had the pools to ourselves, which was super relaxing.
He Puna Taimoana Hot Pools
Kerosene Creek

Make sure to wear sandals! The path can get muddy and slippery, plus you don’t wanna step on anything yucky. Trust me, it makes a huge difference!

Bring some cash. There's no reception in the area, and I found that some local stalls or attractions took cash only. 10 bucks got me a great snack in the little shop nearby.

If you're keen on avoiding crowds, try to go during weekdays. I went on a Saturday and it was packed! You’ll have way more space to relax and enjoy yourself on a Tuesday or Wednesday.
