Holmenkollen Ski Jump
Dr. Jekyll’s Pub
Check their social media for any events or live music nights before you go. I went spontaneously and missed out on a live band that would have made the night even more fun!
If you want a spot to play billiards, try to get there early, around 4 PM. It gets super crowded later at night and you might miss out on a table?
Hov Horse Farm
Oslo Camping
I recommend getting the Oslo Pass if you plan on exploring more than just the camping. It saved me a ton on local attractions and transport! Plus, it's super handy for getting discounts everywhere.
Pulpit Rock
Hafjell Alpinsenter
I recommend getting your lift passes online in advance; it saves you time at the ticket counter. Trust me, the lines can get long on weekends!
My advice is to hit the slopes early, around 9 AM is perfect, before the crowds build up. You'll have fresh powder and more room to enjoy yourself.
I suggest you try the night skiing if you're up for it; it's a totally different vibe and way less crowded. Just make sure to check the schedule first, though.
Oslo Bar & Bowling
My advice is to try their happy hour deals on drinks, which usually run from 4 PM to 7 PM. We snagged some awesome cocktails at half price!
I think the food prices are a bit high, so maybe consider eating somewhere else first if you want to save some cash. We made that mistake and spent more than we wanted to!
Oslo Port Authority
There are quite a few charming cafes and spots to grab a bite, but my advice is to check out the food at the Aker Brygge area for fresh seafood – it's a bit pricey but totally worth it!
Be mindful of the ferry schedules if you want to hop over to the islands. It's very easy to lose track of time, and I missed my ferry by just a few minutes – total bummer!
Watch the weather closely before heading out. It can change quickly in Oslo, and being unprepared left me a bit soggy on my visit. A light, waterproof jacket is a good idea!
If you're into yachting, try to visit on a weekday. The weekend crowds can get pretty heavy, and you’ll have a better chance of snagging a good spot to watch the boats come in and out.
Sorenga Syobad
Check the weather beforehand! I went on a cloudy day and missed the sunshine. Sunny days really enhance the vibe at Sorenga.
I suggest bringing your own snacks and drinks. The café can be a bit pricey, and it’s nice to enjoy your own stuff by the water.
If you're looking for a chill spot, head to the far end of the swimming area. It's usually quieter there, and you can enjoy a peaceful swim away from the noise.
Don't forget your towel. I made the mistake of leaving mine behind, and the rentals they offer are not the greatest quality
Hemsedal
My advice is to try the local food, especially at smaller eateries. I made the mistake of sticking to tourist spots and missed out on some amazing dishes!
