Plaza Mayor

Try to visit in the early morning, around 8 AM, to enjoy the plaza with fewer crowds and to catch the beautiful morning light for photos. It’s just way more relaxed before the tourists pour in.

If you're into photography, I recommend visiting just before sunset. The warm colors really bring out the beauty of the architecture, and it's magical with the lights coming on.
Plaza de Armas
Plaza San Martin
Ollantaytambo Sanctuary

I suggest bringing a reusable water bottle; you can fill it up at the entrance and save some cash. Plus, staying hydrated is key when exploring!

My advice is to wear comfy shoes. The stones can be slippery and uneven, so good footwear will make your hike much easier.

I recommend hiring a local guide. You get more insight into the history and culture, and it feels way more authentic than just wandering around.
Bridge of Sighs
12 Angle Stone
Kuelap

Bring snacks and water. The hike can be more demanding than it looks, and there aren't many places to buy refreshments once you're there.

Take your time exploring the site. There are so many hidden gems in the architecture. I regret rushing through and not capturing better photos!
Cathedral of Lima
Tupac Amaru Square

I think you should check out the local vendors here – their handmade crafts are unique. Just be ready to haggle a bit, as they might quote a high price at first.

If you're planning to stay for a while, consider bringing a light snack. I found there’s not many food options right at the square, and you may get hungry roaming.
