Bring your own snacks and water, as the beachfront vendors can be overpriced. I ended up spending way more on drinks than I planned because I didn't prepare ahead
I recommend checking the surf conditions in advance, especially if you're a beginner. I went when the waves were rough and it was tough for me, but fun to watch the pros!
Los Chorros
Apuzunga Water Park
Playa El Tunco

I recommend hitting the beach in the morning, around 7 AM, to catch the sunrise and avoid the afternoon heat. It was so peaceful and fewer people around, made for a perfect start!
Club Joya Del Pacifico
Playa Las Flores

My advice is to explore the local food scene—skip the tourist traps near the beach. Check out small eateries in town for authentic meals at better prices

Try to negotiate prices for surf lessons and rentals; I saved a bit doing this. Most instructors are friendly and willing to strike a deal!
Playa El Sunzal

I think you should surf in the morning around 9 AM when the waves are less crowded and more suitable for beginners. My first session was at noon, and it was super hectic. Mornings definitely give a better vibe for learning.
