Centenary Park Kampala

I think checking out the local craft market just outside the park is a must. You can find unique souvenirs and often get better prices than in the city center!

I suggest planning your visit in the late morning, around 10 am. It’s the perfect time before it gets too hot and you can enjoy the peaceful atmosphere.
Murchison Falls National Park

Definitely book a boat cruise at 3 PM for the best wildlife sighting. I saw tons of hippos and crocs, and the sunset was stunning over the Nile. Trust me, you won't regret it!

Make sure to bring cash for park fees and tips, as some places don’t accept cards. I was caught off guard when I needed to pay for my guide and had no cash on me. A bit stressful!
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

My advice is to pack light for the trek. Trust me, you don’t want to lug around a heavy bag on a 3-4 hour hike! A small backpack with some water and snacks will do.

Consider hiring a local guide. They know the area really well and can point out wildlife you might miss otherwise. Plus, it feels good to support the local community!

I suggest booking your gorilla permits in advance, like a few months ahead, because they can sell out fast, especially in peak season. I waited too long and it was a stressful last-minute scramble!

I think it’s best to stay a couple of days. One day felt too rushed, and I missed some amazing sights. Take your time to soak it all in and maybe try a few trails!
Mgahinga Gorilla National Park

I highly recommend booking your gorilla trek in advance, as permits can sell out quickly. It can save you a lot of frustration, especially during peak seasons

Bring cash for tips and snacks, since some places in the park don’t accept card payments. I wish I had packed more snacks for our long trek; it helped to have something to nibble on!
Kidepo Valley National Park

My advice is to pack snacks and water. The park can feel remote, and the food options inside can be pricy. I wish I had brought my own lunch to save some cash.

I recommend visiting the park in the early morning, around 6 AM, for the best wildlife sightings. I saw lions and elephants and the sunrise was stunning! It's totally worth the early wake-up.

I think taking a 4WD vehicle is a must, especially during the rainy season. The roads can get super muddy and bumpy, I almost got stuck a couple of times!
Kibale National Park

I recommend booking your chimpanzee tracking permit in advance especially during peak seasons. I almost missed out because I thought I could just walk in! Trust me you don't want to waste time standing in line.

My advice is to pack snacks and water for the trek. The chimp tracking can take longer than expected, and you don’t want to be caught hungry in the jungle. Also, it saves you some cash on overpriced park food
Queen Elizabeth National Park

I recommend bringing your own snacks and drinks to the park. Prices at stalls can be crazy high. We packed a backpack and it made a huge difference!

Don't miss the boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel at 2 PM for the best wildlife sightings. The early morning one was too crowded for us!
Lake Mburo National Park

I recommend hiring a local guide for a few hours. They know all the best spots in the park and it’s a great way to avoid missing out on the amazing wildlife. Trust me it made my experience so much better!

I suggest doing the boat trip on Lake Mburo. It offers a different perspective and you might see various animals up close. Just check the time because they only run at specific hours, and plan accordingly to save waiting time!

Don't forget to bring snacks and a refillable water bottle. The food options in the park are a bit pricey, and you’ll want to stay hydrated while exploring. I think I spent way too much on basic snacks!
Semuliki National Park

i suggest bringing some snacks and water for the trek. there are limited places to buy food and you don’t want to waste time looking for something to eat mid-hike. trust me you'll need the energy!

I recommend hiring a local guide. They’re super knowledgeable and can show you hidden gems that you’d miss on your own. It was totally worth the extra money and made my visit way more enriching!
