Parque Tayrona

I suggest bringing snacks and water from Santa Marta. The prices inside the park are crazzy high, and you’ll want to have enough energy for all that trekking.

I think it’s worth taking the longer trail to Cabo San Juan; it’s stunning. Just make sure you’re prepared for the heat and bring plenty of water.
Tayrona National Park

My advice is to wear good hiking shoes. I wore flip-flops thinking it would be fine, but trust me, you’ll regret it on those rocky paths.

I recommend bringing lots of water and snacks – the hikes can be tougher than you think, and you might end up hungry at some point! When I visited, I ran out of water too soon.

Watch out for the monkeys! They’re super cheeky, and one almost stole my water bottle! Keep an eye on your stuff, or you’ll end up chasing them

You definitely want to hit the trails early, I suggest starting around 7 AM. The heat gets intense, and it’s way nicer before the crowds show up too.
La Ciudad Perdida

I think starting your trek early in the morning around 6 AM is key. You'll avoid the hot midday sun and enjoy cooler weather while hiking.

Consider packing a reusable water bottle with a built-in filter. You'll save money on buying bottled water and stay hydrated during the trek.
Lost City Trek

I think trying to learn a few basic Spanish phrases helped a ton. The locals really appreciated it, and it made interactions smoother. Plus, it might save you from a few awkward moments!

My advice is to carry enough snacks, especially local fruits, for energy during the hike. I wish I had packed some instead of relying on the limited options at the campsites.
Horseshoe Tours
Costeno Beach

I recommend bringing your own snorkeling gear if you can. Renting it on-site can be a bit pricey, plus you'll want to have it ready when you spot some cool fish. I saved a few bucks this way.
