Guillaume and Mathieu Plou

Make sure to ask about their favorite pairings with the wines. They shared some amazing local food tips that really enhanced our experience.

Bring a reusable water bottle. It can get pretty warm, and they kindly refilled ours while we were sampling wines!

Check if they have any special tasting events or discounts before you go. We stumbled on a flight promotion that made it super affordable!

I recommend visiting during the week rather than on weekends. It was way less crowded, and we had more personal attention from the staff.
Les Caves Duhard
I recommend grabbing a bite at a nearby café before your visit. The cafés around have some great local food that makes the wine tasting even better afterwards.

Don’t forget to wear layers! It’s colder inside the caves than you’d think. I felt a bit chilly because I only wore a t-shirt

If you want to save some cash, try to visit on a weekday. The weekend crowd can really hike up the prices for tastings and tours, and you get a more relaxed vibe during the week.
Cave Nathalie and David Drusse

My advice is to try their tasting platter with local cheeses. It really complements the wines and gives you a full experience for a reasonable price!

i suggest taking some time to wander around the vineyards after your tasting. it’s a peaceful experience and you’ll learn a bit more about the wine-making process up close.

I recommend visiting during the week, especially Tuesday or Wednesday, when it's less crowded and you can really chat with the staff about their wines. They love to share their passion
Pierre & Bertrand Couly Chinon

My advice is to grab a bottle or two at the end; their wines are some of the best in Chinon, and prices are good compared to what you'll find in shops

Definitely try to book a tasting ahead of time! I didn’t and ended up waiting longer than I wanted. Weekends can get super busy so if you can go during the week that’s even better.

Try to do a vineyard tour if you can; it adds a whole new level to the experience! I thought just the tasting would be fine, but seeing the vines made everything more special.
Domaine du Croc du Merle

If you have time, enjoy a picnic outside. The views are stunning, and you can bring your own snacks to complement the great wines and cheeses you buy from the shop.

I recommend booking a tasting in advance to avoid disappointment, especially during peak tourist seasons. I missed out because I didn’t plan ahead!

Definitely try to visit during the week if you can – it’s way less crowded and you really get to chat with the staff about the wines and cheeses... They love sharing their knowledge
Le Vazereau

My advice is to ask about any special deals on cheese or pairing options. Some days they have discounts, but I almost missed it!

I suggest you try to arrive right at 10 AM when they open. The place gets pretty busy, and you don't want to miss the first batch of fresh cheese tastings.

I recommend bringing a small cooler or bag to keep your cheese fresh for the trip home. They have some amazing options that you won’t want to waste!

I think it’s worth taking some time to chat with the cheesemakers if you can. They have some great stories and passion that really enhance the experience!
The Winegrowers of Mont-Pres-Chambord

I suggest checking out their website for any seasonal wine-tasting events; snagged a couple of great deals that way!

Make sure to bring a picnic! There are nice spots to relax with a bottle or two, and it really saved us on lunch costs. Also, the scenery is gorgeous!

I recommend asking for a tour of the vineyard; learning about how they grow the grapes was the highlight. Just be ready for a walk; comfy shoes are a must.

My advice is to visit on a weekday, especially around 2 PM. It’s way less crowded, and you get better attention during tastings.
Cellar of the Producers of Vouvray

I suggest arriving just before 11 AM to join the first tour. It’s way less crowded, and you get a more personal experience with the guide.

My advice is to bring a picnic! The site has beautiful areas for enjoying food after wine tasting, plus it saves you money on lunch.
Domaine Famille Bourgeois

I recommend asking the staff for their favorite pairings. They were super helpful and it made the tasting so much more enjoyable!

Bring a picnic! There are lovely spots to enjoy your snacks with a glass of wine, rather than relying on just the café offerings which can be pricey

I suggest booking a tasting experience in advance, especially on weekends, as it can get crowded and you might miss out if you just walk in.
Fromagerie Moreau

I suggest not missing out on their tasting events. They usually have them on Saturdays, and I almost skipped it thinking it might be boring, but it turned out to be a blast! I tried some amazing cheeses and left with a few favorites.

I recommend visiting on a weekday rather than the weekend. It was way less crowded when I went on a Thursday, so I had more time to chat with the cheesemakers and sample the goods without feeling rushed.
