Zwinger
Plan to spend at least 2-3 hours here if you really want to take it all in. I underestimated and rushed through some exhibits.
I recommend starting your visit right when it opens at 10 AM to avoid the crowds. I went later and it was packed!
City Cars Museum
Frauenkirhe
Be sure to take the elevator up to the dome! The view of Dresden from up there is breathtaking. Just make sure to check the operating hours though, as they can change.
Plan to stay for the organ concert if you can. It’s a unique experience and you can often buy tickets on the spot. I wish I’d known this before my visit!
I found an awesome little café just around the corner for lunch, Café Aha. It’s way cheaper than the touristy spots and the sandwiches are delish! My advice is to grab a bite there afterward.
I recommend getting the audio guide, it's only a few euros and really enhances the experience. I learned so much more than just looking around would have taught me
Moritzburg Castle
Golden Rider
I recommend bringing a good camera or your smartphone with a high-res camera. The details on the Golden Rider statue are stunning, and you won't want to miss capturing them!
German Museum of Hygiene
Grab a coffee at the museum café. It's cozy and gives you a nice break from all the exhibits—pretty good prices too!
I recommend downloading the museum app. It has cool audio guides and interactive maps that really enhance your experience.
German Museum of Hygiene
Look out for combo tickets. They often have discounts for multiple attractions nearby, which can save you some money if you're planning to hit other spots in the area.
Plan to visit on a weekday if you can. It was much less crowded when we went on a Tuesday, which made for a more relaxed exploration. Weekends were packed!
Palace-Residence
Pilnitz Palace-Castle
Gallery of Old Masters
My advice is to get the audio guide. It costs a little extra, but it really brings the paintings to life, and I learned a ton of cool facts that I wouldn't have otherwise.
I recommend checking out their website for any temporary exhibits before you go. They had one on Dutch masters when I visited, and it was totally worth seeing!
