Maidan
I think it's smart to bring a water bottle and some snacks. There aren't many food stalls around, plus you can save a few bucks!
Take a stroll around the area and check out the nearby attractions. I missed out on some cool spots because I was too focused on Maidan itself. Don't make the same mistake!
My advice is to wear comfy shoes! Walking through the park can be tricky with the uneven paths, and trust me, your feet will thank you later.
Zoological Garden Alipore
Don't miss the reptile house! It's surprisingly fascinating; I could’ve spent more time there if I'd known. Maybe plan to explore it first.
Check for any special events or feeding sessions beforehand; I caught a really cool elephant feeding that made my day!
Elliot Park
I think visiting on a weekday, especially around 10 AM, makes for a much quieter experience. The park was almost empty and it felt so peaceful.
I suggest bringing some snacks and water because there aren’t many food stalls nearby, and it can be a bit of a trek to find them. I ended up starving!
Salt Lake Central Park
If you’re planning to hire a boat, go for it. But do it before 4 PM. It gets too hot later on and the experience will be less enjoyable, trust me.
If you love nature, bring some bird feed along! The little birds come to you, and it's such a delightful experience. Just a small bunch can keep them around for a while.
Check out the local street vendors just outside the park for delicious snacks. They are much cheaper than the in-park cafes, plus you get a taste of authentic Kolkata!
