Amalfi Coast

If you’re in Amalfi, don’t miss the hike from Amalfi to Atrani - it’s a steep walk but soooo worth it for the views. Just pack some water and a snack, and you’ll save on doing expensive tours!

When I went to Positano, I seriously underestimated the beach chair fees. I think it was like €20 for a chair and umbrella. It adds up fast, so either bring a towel and hit the free parts of the beach or just budget for it!

Consider popping into the nearby cafes for a budget bite rather than the tourist traps directly on the piazza. I had a delicious sandwich for half the price in a hidden gem just a block away!

Definitely grab a gelato from a nearby shop, it's a sweet way to cool down while you explore! I found an awesome little place just at the corner that had a great variety and it wasn't overpriced.

If you want to avoid crowds try visiting around 7 PM. I went then and caught the sunset which made for an amazing backdrop without too many people around.

Check out local street performers while you hang out in the square. I stumbled upon a great musicians that made the atmosphere even better without costing me a dime!
National Archaeological Museum of Naples

My advice is to visit the smaller galleries first. They can get overlooked, but I found some hidden gems and it was quieter.

Don't miss the frescoes from Pompeii! Spend extra time in that section as it was the highlight of my visit. You’ll be in awe.
If you can, visit on a Sunday as it’s free! Just be prepared for more crowds, but you can save a good amount of cash.

Grab a map when you enter. I suggest highlighting the must-see pieces, so you don’t miss anything important. It really helped me stay organized.

Make sure to wear good walking shoes. The cobbled streets are tough on your feet. I didn’t realize how much walking I’d be doing and regretted my sandal choice!

Look out for toilet facilities before you get too deep into the ruins. I totally forgot and had to retrace my steps back to the entrance which wasted quite a bit of time!

I recommend taking your time in the frescoed villas. They’re stunning, but also busy. If you can, go on a weekday for a quieter experience - I went on a Saturday, and it was packed!

Pack a bottle of water and some snacks. There are a few places to eat, but I found it cheaper and more relaxing to munch while exploring. Plus, sitting in the shade with a snack is a perfect break!
