I think it's worth spending some time just people-watching at the square. Grab a chai from a local vendor and soak in the atmosphere—it's one of my favorite memories.

I suggest hitting the museums right when they open. They get super busy by lunchtime, and you'll have more time to really absorb the art and history without feeling rushed.

My advice is to explore the smaller alleys around the square. You'll find hidden gems like local shops and cafes that offer authentic Nepali dishes, way tastier and cheaper than the tourist spots!

Bring some cash as many small shops and stalls only take Nepali Rupees. I learned this the hard way when I found a beautiful scarf but had no cash on me!

While inside the stupa area, be mindful of the prayer wheels. Walking clockwise is essential as it’s part of the local spiritual practice. I accidentally went the wrong way and got awkward looks!
