Dolmabahce
I suggest getting there right when they open at 9 am. You’ll beat the crowds and can take your time wandering through the stunning gardens before it gets too hot.

If you get hungry, there’s a café nearby, but it can be pricey. I found a little street vendor outside selling simit for way cheaper and it's delicious!

Don't miss the stunning crystal chandelier inside the palace—it's mind-blowing! Make sure to take a good look at it and snap some pics

Consider buying your tickets online in advance. I did this and avoided a long line at the entrance, which saved me so much time!
Galata Tower

Grab a snack from one of the nearby cafes before heading up. The view from the top is incredible, and you'll want to stay a bit longer! Plus, the cafes are usually cheaper than food from the tower itself.

If you have a choice, visit on a weekday. Saturdays can be super packed, and you'll spend more time in line than taking in the sights

Buy your ticket online in advance! It saves you from the long queues, especially on weekends. I learned this the hard way and wasted almost an hour.

Don’t skip the lower floors! The historical exhibits and the ambiance are charming and offer great context before heading up to enjoy the skyline view.
The Blue Mosque
Grand Bazaar
Finally, don't just stick to the main lanes! I found some hidden gems in the quieter alleys... They tend to have more unique items and the sellers are less pushy

I suggest practicing a few words in Turkish before you go. Even a simple 'Merhaba' can make shopkeepers warm up to you and maybe even give you a better deal.

Watch out for shops throwing around prices! I think bargaining is part of the fun, so always start low. Don't be shy to walk away if the price isn't right; they'll often call you back.

Keep some small change handy. I suggest getting snacks or drinks from the little stalls, they often don't accept cards and it's just more convenient.
Saint Sophia Cathedral

Bring some cash for the entrance fee. Although they accept cards, I saw some people struggling because of the system going down. Just a backup plan!

Don't forget to look up at the incredible dome. The architecture blew my mind! I almost missed it because I was looking at the floor first, haha!

Make sure to check out the mosaics up close. The details are stunning! I suggest taking a few minutes just to absorb everything—it's really worth it!

Get there by 8:00 AM when it opens. The early bird really catches the worm! It was way less crowded, and I could take nice pics without tons of people in the background.
Topkapi

If you're planning to visit the museum shop, check for discounts on items before you buy. I ended up finding a cute mug for half price – score!

Make sure to check out the Harem section; it's a separate ticket but totally worth it. I thought I'd skip it, but it ended up being a highlight.

Don't forget to bring a bottle of water! There are limited places to buy drinks inside, and I found myself super thirsty during the tour.

If you're a fan of photography, visit early in the morning, around 9 AM, when the light is perfect and the crowds are smaller.
Dolmabahce Palace

Don’t skip the café on the grounds. It’s a lovely place to relax with a view of the Bosphorus after the tour. Just remember it’s a bit pricey.

I suggest bringing cash for the entrance fee... Sometimes, card payments can be a hassle and you'd hate to miss out if the system's down

I think it's worth allocating at least three hours for your visit. You’ll want time to take photos, wander through the gardens, and really take it all in.

I recommend visiting right when the palace opens at 9 am. The crowds are minimal then, and you can explore the stunning rooms without feeling rushed.
Ulu-Jami Mosque

You might wanna plan your visit after lunch, like around 2-3 PM. The light coming through the stained glass is stunning, and it's less busy. Perfect for photos!

i recommend checking out the area around the mosque. there are lovely little shops and cafes where you can unwind without rushing off. i found some great souvenirs!

My tip is to wear comfy shoes! There’s a lot of walking in the area, and the stones can be a bit uneven. I regretted my fancy shoes halfway through!
Basilica Cistern
Selimiye

If you want to save a few lira, buy your entry tickets in advance online. It saved me a bit of time queuing at the entrance!

Try to visit Selimiye Mosque around 5 PM; the light is just perfect for photos and it’s less crowded. Trust me, you’ll get some amazing shots!

Don't skip the area around the mosque; there's a lovely park and cafes with beautiful views. I totally missed that and regretted it!

Dress comfortably! There’s a lot of walking and some uneven surfaces, especially around the mosque... I wore sandals and my feet were not happy!
