Monterey Bay Aquarium
My advice is to map out the must-see exhibits ahead of time. Some of the cool stuff is easy to miss if you're just wandering around.
If you can, try to catch the feeding sessions, especially the sea otters. It’s a highlight! Just check the schedule on their website before you go.
I think the best time to visit is on a weekday. I went on Saturday, and it was packed—I felt rushed everywhere!
To save some cash, check if you can get a combo ticket with nearby attractions. It helped me save a bit on my visit.
Monterey Bay Aquarium
I suggest arriving right when the aquarium opens at 10 AM to avoid the big crowds. Trust me, it makes a huge difference in enjoying the exhibits at your own pace.
Make sure to download the aquarium’s app. It has a map and schedules, plus you can learn more about the exhibits; super handy while exploring!
I recommend bringing your own snacks or lunch. The aquarium's café can be pricey and the food is just average. There are nice picnic spots nearby if the weather is good.
If you can, buy your tickets online in advance. It’ll save you from waiting in line and sometimes you even get a discount!
Aquarium Birch
If you can, visit on a weekday, especially around 1 PM. It's way less crowded than the weekends, and you can actually enjoy the exhibits without constantly dodging other tourists!
I recommend checking out the feeding times for the animals, since that's when the exhibits get super lively and it's a great photo op. It's fun to see the sea lions get their snacks!
My advice is to bring your own snacks and water. The café is kind of pricey, and you'll want to save your money for the cool gifts in the gift shop.
Cabrillo Marine Aquarium
My advice is to bring your own snacks. The café was pricey for just a simple meal and the food wasn't that great. Pack something yummy and save your cash for the gift shop instead!
Bay Aquarium
check out the jellyfish exhibit – it was a real highlight for me! also, don’t rush through – allow at least 2 hours to enjoy everything fully.
Santa Monica Aquarium Pier
My advice is to check for any special events or feeding sessions happening that day. I missed one, and it looked so cool!
