Buckingham Fountain

I suggest visiting the fountain early in the morning, around 8 AM, to avoid crowds and grab some amazing photos without people in the background. It's much more peaceful then.

I found that visiting in late spring or early fall was ideal; the weather was pleasant and less humid, making it more enjoyable to walk around.

If you're planning to take pictures, I recommend checking the fountain's schedule online for the best times when it’s lit up or during the water shows. They are stunning!

keep an eye on the time for the fountain's evening light shows. they usually start around 8 pm and it’s a perfect way to wrap up your day!
Chicago Cultural Center

I suggest grabbing lunch nearby before heading in. The food options are decent around the area, and it's a great way to refuel before diving into the art and architecture. Don't skip the local spots!

I recommend visiting on a weekday. It was less crowded, and I got to enjoy the beautiful architecture without the hustle and bustle of a weekend. Plus, it's way easier to snap those perfect pics!

My advice is to check out the free programs and events they offer. I stumbled upon a cool art exhibit while I was there, and it was a nice surprise that didn't cost me a thing!
Michigan Avenue

I suggest exploring the hidden alleys and courtyards off Michigan Ave for some cool photo ops and a quieter vibe. I stumbled upon a beautiful courtyard cafe that wasn't in the guidebooks!
I recommend investing in a city pass if you're planning to visit a bunch of attractions. It can save you quite a bit of money, and I wish I'd done that before my trip. It would’ve helped me see more!

I found that checking out the architecture on a weekday is much nicer. Weekends can get super crowded. Aim for a Monday or Tuesday around 10 AM for a more relaxed experience.
Crown Fontaine

Make sure to bring a zoom lens if you’re into photography. Some of the details in the architecture are just incredible, and they're difficult to capture from a distance.

I suggest checking out the nearby parks after your visit. They’re a great spot to relax and enjoy the views without the crowds. Plus, it’s totally free!
I think grabbing a coffee at one of the nearby spots before heading in can really enhance your experience. I did that, and it made the waiting feel much shorter.

I recommend going on a weekday if you can. It was way less crowded when I visited on a Tuesday, and I got to take way better photos!
Jay Pritzker Pavilion

Bring a picnic blanket or grab one from a nearby store. The seating is great for lounging, and it saves you from buying snacks at overpriced concession stands.

If the weather is nice plan your visit around sunset. The colors against the pavilion are stunning and the vibe is just magical!

Wear comfy shoes if you're planning to explore Millennium Park after. The paths can get uneven, and you don't want to be hobbling around.

Try to arrive around 5 PM if you're visiting during busy weekends. It's easier to find a good spot for the concert without fighting the crowd
Frank Lloyd Wright's Studio House

I recommend checking out the visitor center before your tour—they have some cool interactive displays about Wright’s work that will make your visit way more interesting. Plus, it’s air-conditioned!

If you're planning to get souvenirs, skip the shop inside and check out local boutiques nearby instead. I found some unique stuff that wasn't just the typical merchandise—it saved me a bit too!

I think visiting on Wednesdays or Thursdays can help you avoid larger crowds. I went on a Saturday and it was a bit packed—more time standing around than actually enjoying the place!
Chicago Architecture Center

I recommend grabbing the combo ticket for the boat tour and center entry. It saves some cash compared to buying them separately, and the views from the boat are just stunning!

If you can, visit on a weekday. Saturdays get super crowded, and it's hard to see everything. I went on a Wednesday morning, and it felt so much more relaxed.

Check out the free walking tour that starts from the center. It’s a great way to explore more without spending extra bucks. Plus, the guide shared some fun stories that I really enjoyed.
Honestly, I think the gift shop can be hit or miss. Some stuff is really cool, but others aren’t worth the price. Maybe wait and see what you like before splurging.
Holy Name Cathedral

I suggest arriving on a weekday morning, like around 9 AM. It's way less crowded then, and you can soak in the architecture without too many distractions. Later in the day, it gets pretty busy.

If you plan to take photos check out the afternoon sunlight hitting the stained glass around 2 PM. It makes for some stunning shots! I kinda missed that on my visit.

Bring a water bottle and a small snack. The cathedral doesn't have a cafe, and after wandering around, I really needed a break. There's a lovely park nearby to relax in!

My advice is to explore the surrounding area after visiting. It's a beautiful neighborhood, and you can find some cute little cafes and shops that won't break the bank. A great way to unwind!
The Merchandise Mart

Check out the free art exhibits if they have any during your visit. I stumbled upon a couple by chance, and they were surprisingly good. It’s a nice way to break up the shopping

My advice is to wear comfy shoes! You’ll do a lot of walking throughout the mart and its many floors. I wore cute boots, but by the end of the day, I wished for my sneakers.

I suggest grabbing a bite at one of the cafes, but plan ahead for peak hours around lunchtime. I waited in line for ages, which ate into my exploring time! Next visit, I’ll eat a bit earlier!
Rookery Building

I suggest visiting the Rookery right when it opens at 9 AM to avoid crowds and get the best photos of the stunning lobby without other visitors obstructing your view. Trust me, it's worth it!

My advice is to take the time to explore the surrounding area after your visit. There are some great coffee shops nearby where you can relax and soak in the beautiful architecture of the Loop
