Mammoth Cave

Consider the 'Crawl Space' tour if you're feeling adventurous; it was the highlight for me! Bring knee pads, though – trust me on that!

If you're interested in photography, I recommend the 'Historic Tour' as it has some stunning sights. Just be aware that flash photography isn't allowed!

Get your tickets online before you arrive to save time and avoid long lines. I waited an hour to get my tickets, which cut into my exploring time.

Pack a light jacket, even in summer! The cave can be chilly, and I wished I had one for my visit.
Mammoth Cave National Park

I suggest booking your cave tour in advance, especially on weekends. I had to wait an hour extra 'cause they were sold out for the tour I wanted.

My advice is to wear good walking shoes! The trails can be uneven, and I regretted my choice of flip flops halfway through the cave.

I recommend bringing a water bottle and snacks. There are not many places to grab a bite inside the park, and I was starving after the tour.
Louisville Mega Cavern

I recommend wearing layers. It gets chilly down there, even in summer! I was surprised how cold it was in some parts

My advice is to bring some snacks. The food options inside are kind of limited and pricey, so having your own snacks can help save some cash.
Lost River Cave

Wear comfortable shoes! The cave floor can be slippery and you’ll want to enjoy the scenery without worrying about tripping. I learned this the hard way!

Consider packing a light snack. The cafe is nice, but it can be a bit pricey and has limited options. Eating before or after the cave tour saves time and money!

Check the weather beforehand. If it’s rainy, the cave might have reduced access, so a sunny day can make your visit way more enjoyable!

If you're planning to go on a weekend, try to arrive right when they open at 9 AM. The crowds build up quickly, and you'll get a more personal experience with fewer people around.
Fisher Ridge Cave

Don't forget to bring a flashlight! The lighting in some areas can be dim and having your own light helps you enjoy the details better.

I suggest wearing sturdy shoes; the terrain can get slippery and uneven inside the cave. I learned the hard way when I slipped a couple of times!

I recommend buying your tickets online ahead of time to avoid waiting in line when you arrive. It saved me a lot of time on my visit!
