The Milwaukee County Zoo
I suggest arriving right when the zoo opens at 9 AM to beat the crowds and enjoy a quieter experience. You'll get better views of the animals and can take fantastic photos without a bunch of people in the way.
Consider bringing your own snacks and drinks. The food options inside are a bit pricey, and you'll save a few bucks by packing a cooler or a good thermos.
Mitchell Park Horticultural Conservatory
Bring a water bottle and some snacks. There’s not much on site, and you can enjoy your food while taking in the beautiful scenery.
McKinley Beach
Bring your own snacks and drinks. Beach concessions can get pricey and the quality isn’t always great. I saved a ton packing my own cooler and enjoyed having my favorite treats.
Veterans Park
My advice is to bring a packed lunch! There are picnic spots throughout the park, and grabbing a sandwich before you go can save you cash compared to nearby places.
I recommend visiting in the morning around 9 AM... The park is less crowded, and you can enjoy the tranquility while soaking in the views... Plus, the lighting is great for pictures!
Boerner Botanical Gardens
Check out the garden's calendar before your visit; they often have special events or guided tours that can really enhance your experience. I ended up missing a tour, and I wish I had planned better!
Lake Park
My advice is to pack a picnic. There are some awesome spots to relax, and it'll save you some cash instead of buying food nearby, which can be pricey.
I think you should definitely check out the Milwaukee Art Museum nearby after the park. It's so close, and tickets are usually cheaper on Tuesdays. We paid way too much trying to go on a weekend!
South Shore Park
I suggest checking out the park in the early mornin', like around 7 AM. It's super peaceful then and you can grab a great spot by the lake before it gets crowded.
Lakeshore State Park
If you can, visit on a weekday around 10 AM. It was way less crowded, and I could enjoy the serene views without feeling rushed or bumping into people everywhere.
Bradford Beach
I suggest getting to Bradford Beach early, like around 9 AM. The parking fills up fast, and you’ll want to snag a good spot near the beach entrance before it gets crazy
Cathedral Square Park
If you're planning on catching any live music events, check the schedule ahead of time. I missed a band I really wanted to see because I assumed they’d be playing when I arrived in the evening.
