Keystone Resort

If you're not super experienced, I suggest booking a lesson on the first day. You'll learn faster and enjoy the slopes way more, instead of wasting time figuring things out on your own. Trust me!
You gotta try night skiing! It's an awesome experience, especially if you go around 5 PM, but be prepared for colder temps up there, so dress warm!
Telluride Ski Resort

If you're renting gear consider doing it in town instead of on the mountain. It's usually cheaper and you avoid the hassle of long lines at the ski shop on the slopes

I suggest downloading the Telluride app for live updates on lifts and conditions. It saved me a lot of time wandering around trying to figure out where to go next.

Grab lunch at one of the spots in town, like The Last Dollar Saloon. It’s cheaper than on-mountain dining and you'll get more local flavor!
Adventure Mountain Lake
I suggest arriving by 9 AM to beat the crowds and score the best sledding spots; it gets busy fast!
Muddy Paw Sled Dog Kennel

Dress in layers! It gets pretty cold, so I'd suggest thermal clothing and waterproof boots. Trust me, you’ll thank me later for keeping cozy.

Bring some snacks and hot beverages, because you’ll want to keep warm while waiting for your turn. I found the wait longer than expected, but it was worth it!
Firecracker Hill

Make sure to arrive by 10 AM. That way, you beat the crowds and get a prime spot to sled. I got there later and had to hike up a bit to find a good hill.

If you're planning to go on a weekend, try to go early in the season, like late December or early January. The snow was way better then, and the crowds were manageable. By February, it gets super busy!

Check the weather before you go! It can change fast in the mountains, so make sure you're dressed in layers. I ended up freezing because I didn't pay attention and didn't pack warm enough clothes.

I recommend bringing your own sled if you can. Rentals are available but can get pricey, and it's way more fun to use your own. I found mine at a local store for a great price before heading to Firecracker Hill.
Sunburst Winter Sports Park
If you can, skip weekends! It gets super packed, and I spent way too much time waiting in line. Weekdays are way more chill.

I suggest wearing layering clothes, 'cause the weather can change fast. I had to keep going back to my car for more gear, which wasted time
Theodore Wirth Regional Park

Don't miss the trails for snowshoeing or cross-country skiing! They were super fun, but I recommend checking the trail conditions beforehand. Some spots were a bit rough when I went.

I suggest arriving around 9 AM on weekends to snag a good parking spot. It gets pretty busy later, especially if there’s snow! We parked far away and it was a drag walking with sleds.
Grand Mesa's Old Powderhorn

If you can, visit on a weekday around 10 AM to avoid the crowds. It was much quieter, and I had way more runs without waiting in line

I suggest bringing snacks and drinks because the on-site food is super pricey. I ended up paying way too much for a hot chocolate!
Payson Park

I recommend checking the weather before you go. I went on a sunny Saturday and it was perfect for sledding, but I heard the next day it rained and it got muddy and slushy. No fun
Snow Mountain

I suggest bringing your own sled if you can! Rentals can get kinda pricey and often run out. I saved a good amount of money that way. Trust me, a few dollars saved goes a long way!
